Postby aussie027 » Fri Jun 04, 2010 9:38 pm

Hey Guys,

Check these out-

http://www.meandmycar.co.uk/mini-spotli ... p-556.html

they are on sale at Repco and in their sale catalog now.

Only $15, normally $25.

Very small and very bright, basically the same as a 2 AA Maglite.

Awesome.

Mike she just upgraded the stock filter not the whole intake.
Reports on evo's doing the same with a HKS filter are 12hp gained I think?
I got my filter for $59 + postage off ebay. It'd fit your evo but its mine :P

And I put in a HKS filter today, go figure :P

lol, what are the odds? :) have you noticed any power gain or fuel use improvement? i just drove mine for a bit then and i am actually amazed at the difference. i wasn't expecting anything much just from a filter, but i actually can feel slightly more power, i can HEAR the turbo going nuts and the best part... the fuel average dropped from 11L - 13L/100km to about 9.5L/100km. Pretty damn good if you ask me!

Yep Mike, just a filter at this stage. one step at a time, lol :P hope your car gets well taken care of by the missus btw. if i had an Evo no one but me would drive it, seriously!

Nahh not really. I think its been shown to do almost nothing to the NA 2L's. They're just not hungry enough.
Growls more and hisses when you plant it though. :D

What I found, was it 'felt' less powerful. But I realised it was because I was short-shifting because of the noise increase :P So its all good now.
Too soon to notice economy change but I'm expecting it to help a TINY bit (after this fresh reason to drive hard wears off ).

And hell, I can sell it later if I want :)

Good to know - i may need to check that out. Performance mods of this nature don't qualify under the 'wife needs to know act'!!!

head down to RPW and get the K&N filter. you won't regret it. but then the RA may have more noticable gains than an Evo from just a filter, idk. even so, it's cheap enough not to matter either way!

Every little bit helps though! Especially if the cars fuel consumption gets better... then again, who buys this type of car and worries about that!

To be honest, with the TC-SST box in mine i am concerned with the scope for HP upgrades... according to manufacturer specs, the TCSST will only hold up to around 360hp and 380ish Ft/LB torque... which in an evo means a basic exhaust upgrade, ECU remap and air flow... in S_Sport mode the the boost control generates 18PSI which pushes the car well beyond the recommended max...

Don't worry too much. People have gone pretty all-out on theirs...
Unless you're a hardcore upgrader, but then you'll do your research anyway :P

Evo would benefit more than a RA cos it sucks in more air.

^^ what he said, lol. i'm not that hardcore with mods yet, still learning.

i know the SST has some limitations, but there's a bit of research going into it around the place as well, so this could be worth keeping an eye on.

but then what do i know? i don't even own an Evo, just it's baby brother.
