Its a technicality the police and my insurance company went on when #1 was written off as the other drivers insurance company was refusing liability on my car even though the other driver was charged with speeding, running a red light and wreckless driving.

Hey Tim. As per what U have stated if the other driver was charged with all that then his insurance company shouldnt have had a legal leg to stand on as far as reimbursing your insurance company for your car. Can u tell us all what company that was so we can avoid them??

NRMA. They are dodgiest C and a few other letters around. Not only did try to refuse liability for my car, when they found out they legaly had to cover damage done to my car they had the assessor undervalue the amount of damage done to my car so it could be repaired instead of written off to get out of buying a brand new one. They had also begun legal proceedings to sue me. My solicitor for that said that I should take it up with my insurance company as they can get a result faster than what she could. NRMA made me pay for the police report and wouldnt even give me a copy of it. Once my insurance company was involved everything was soon taken care of. They brought in a specialist assessor to go over my car that took about a week and found NRMA had undervalued the amount of damage done to my car by around 10k, it was cheaper to give me a brand new car than to repair it... Dodgy stuff. Karma came to them though, not only did they have to cover the cost of repairing their clients car, they had to cover the cost of a brand new car from my insurance company and all the legal costs of the solicitor.

Karma, its the only thing I believe in.

Hopefully when you come back from trip all you have to do is pick up replacement car. You did have insurance though didnt you??

My brother hit a roundabout in his Mazda3 and he done 16g woth of damage to the suspension. but when he got it back he could see some creases in the roof at the back of the car, it had bend the chassis but NRMA didnt pick that up, but he sold it straight away

I know we will all be shocked when we see the pics. I think I have a pretty accurate idea in my head from your description and the geometry of the collision.

All Lancers hold up well in side impacts. It dont look like much damage been done but there be a whole heap done under the body panels. As long as you not with NRMA then you will be fine. Enjoy holiday and hopefully you come back to a new car.

Were you there when they took the car on tow truck? That hurts alot that part, I had to look away when mine went up on it. Thats when it sinks in car is f'd

Oh... those pics make me want to cry... how nasty!! Amazing you escaped relatively unscathed looking at that, i suppose lucky you were hit on the passenger side really.

Poor RA though, i'd be so unhappy if that was mine :(

Ah geez...never nice to see wrecked car, even less so when it's a CJ. Glad to hear to your ok though mate and hope the insurance company plays fair and replace the car, including all the upgraded bits, without any undue fuss. Keep us updated how it all pans out and please let us know if we can be of any help...

Best of luck and hope you're behind a new CJ real soon.

It was a long agonising wait till they took her away, the damage is alot more severe up close as roof is creased quite badly as well and front drivers wheel & hub etc is just hanging there.
So glad Deb was not in the passenger seat & at home.
Pretty upseting to see the car again today.
Deb has borrowed the daughters car for work next week, she'll cop a bit of flack as has license plates "PLAYGRL 85"
