Injen short ram intake (Evo X)

Postby JaCe » Sat May 15, 2010 5:06 pm

Thanks to spareparts and LZY_EYE for taking time out of their Saturday to help do the install of my Injen SRI & upper intercooler pipe kit (SP1899).

Initial Impressions
Surprisingly no loss of low down grunt like I experienced in my Civic when installing the SRI. Car accelerates and revs much more willingly and you can feel the boost coming on. Most noticeable of course is the BOV which was almost non-existent before (it's stock). A very beautiful sound.

Fuel economy has gone down the shoot as I play around with it but am very happy so far. Will update later when my right foot gets a bit less energetic!

Here are a couple of photos:

Will upload videos shortly to Youtube. Thanks again guys for taking the time to help out.

ps. I purchased the kit from www.lancershop.com and have plenty of praise for their customer support. I know some guys have had negative experiences in getting a quick response to emails but in my experience dealing with Heather, if you just stay online when the US businesses open up (e.g. 10pm Sydney time) you can talk to them live through their website's IM system which definitely gave me a lot of peace of mind.

EDIT: Added another photo I found:

What did it cost you for the SRI?

Updated impression: It's very very loud and you can feel the improvement in acceleration however I'm a bit concerned the newfound BOV sound may attract unwanted attention... and it's a STOCK BOV!!!

Are you interested in seeing how it mounts or just the general area? Will try to take some photos today at the ClubCJ Meet in Botany!

As soon as you change the air intake the sound of the stock bov will change. As the sound it used to make was just funneled back through the exhaust, now it sends some noise out through the intake, the whooshing and the ptshing noise :) I'm not running my stock bov anymore, im using the turbosmart dual port plumbed back. Also I was just wanting to see how the incorperated the MAF sensor into the ram intake... looks good

I'm surprised how much louder the BOV is now that the intake is installed. It's at least 3x or 4x louder.

Here are some new pics of the Evo X Injen SRI + UICP kit taken today (at higher resolution too):

Hope this helps!

You can always put intake & exhaust on any car and it'll sound very different.
