It is a repairable write off, not a statutory write off.

The vehicle is mechanically sound

LOL

Can be repaired by a panel beater

Maybe if he has a magic wand. I'm not saying it's not possible but would it really be worth the money and time to fix.

I've had a look as well.

For A$3,000 for that car it's cheap! Won't stay that way for too long.

As Tadz said, there is an MMCS in there which would be worth the A$3000 alone!

If my garage was a 4 car one, I might buy that as a project to restore slowly then sell.

Purhcase price $3000
Airbags $4000 (note side airbags in seats are deployed)
Dashboard cover $200
Seatbelts $500 (yes they replace due to pretentioners)
Radiator and a/c condensor $1000
radiator support $300
reinforcing bar $400
bumber bar cover $500
miscellaneous $2000
paint and labour $2000

total $13,900 and I probably missed or under valued a lot

car approx valued at $15,000 second hand.

not worth it.

yer repairable if you replace the bent chassis, the caved in engine, glue all the hundreds of thousands of radiator pieces back together, new axles, new gearbox, new bodywork, hell just buy a new car, i can tell you now, that car is unrepairable, with out costing you as much as a new car.

is there a new law come out next month that if a car was a written off by insurance company that it must be sold as part or you had to show it was going to be repaired heaps of paper work.
reason i ask i was at forestry workshop having work truck serviced and they had a gets (Hyundai) in for rego check one look could tell it had the left side repaired so i ask some ? about it. A mech that restores old cars buy them as insurance resell and dose them up he told workshop this was his last one he was going to be able to do due to new laws about fixing wrecked cars.
may need to look into before buying if you go and repair it

I just said it was repairable, as per the legal view on it. Not that it is viable to repair it.
