Man, shattered.... that would have hurt bad.... well, at least you'll have a new looking front end soon :)

Lol... a warning about AAMI though... Make sure you check the workmanship...

This is how they work you see, they agree to repair and your conditions - you just pay them the excess.... however.... in the process they:

First look for 2 quotes from different repairers of their choice
Then they compare the quotes to their own repair centre
They pick the cheapest and the one who does it quickest
And then they push like hell for it to be done quickly - which means the job is shabby sometimes as the cheapest sometimes is the most dodgy :P

And don't bother to pick your repairer, they just make you go through 'black and white' paperwork until you give up.

Just a heads up ;) I'm with AAMI, but I have insider information :P

Good luck mate :)

That sucks, but as long as you are okay, thats the really important thing.

I too am insured with AAMI, they did the same thing to me with my last car, had my brand new RX8 and a truck plowed through the side of it while I was driving. They told the repairer to replace the door skins only and other dodgy stuff. Fortunatly the repairer went in to bat for me and told AAMI that he would only do it properly and so I ended up with new doors and everything fully repaired to my satisfaction.

I hope they fix it all for you like they are saying, and you are back out in your car in no time :)

Mate whoa....

Glad you're okay, and yeah I hate seeing damaged lancers.. it's gut wrenching..

You sure did a number to that other car though!!! I'm surprised an older car like that crumpled more than our modern lancers!!!

Sweet deal with the RA front end.. Car will look niiiice once it's done.

Yeah AAMI 's repairers work do have a rep of being dodgy so take other member's advice about checking out the repairs thouroughly!

Yes the poor Gemini. Skippy would have got a shock :D

The reason the damage looks so severe is because it was being driven in to the Gemini rather then braking in to the Gemini.

Agreed what others have said about insurance. I would check there work and ask for a copy of receipts of the parts used. I would be going to the repairer and taking photos of the work being performed.

A positive is the paint should be better then before.

40 in 1st?? These things only get up to 60 in 1st... You can see the Lancer grill in the rear of the gemini but am abit surprised the Gemini had that much damage considering they are mostly metal.

Be careful of your insurance company though, unless you have it in writing they may not hold up to their end.

Older cars tend to have stronger skin but weaker chassis right?
The front bar in the lancer wouldve taken the brunt of the hit, the gemini could only crumple...

Endlessly impressed with how well nanna's bmw has gone in accidents, other cars just bounce off. And suffer 4x more damage than it does.
No it wasn't me driving. :P

Amazing how much difference there is in accidents between different cars.

The Gemini was not too bad.

It looks like only the boot is squashed. The cabin looks in pretty good condition.
