UK Lancer Models

Postby BeHaV3 » Sun Mar 08, 2009 9:38 pm

Always interesting to have a look at the UK for the cars. Where petrol is expensive the Lancer comes out with a 1.5 litre baseline, a 1.8 top of the line petrol and a range topping 2 litre turbo diesel.

What was more interesting is that the Ralliart grill in Australia,NZ and USA seems to be the "standard" grill for a sports back. Go figure.

interesting. i wish we had the choice of the 2L DiD.... if its anything like the Pajero's DiD they have some balls and great economy...

the 2L Di-D has 10kW less power, but 50% more torque than our 2L mivec.

It does a 9.7sec 0-100 and slashes 2L/100km off the fuel bill! I'd take one :P

The diesel option certainly would be worth considering
Trouble is all fuel seems to be getting pricey lately, but diesels are torquey little beasts
Guess it will be a while before we see any here in the lancers though - shame really

I dont like diesel for a few reasons - primarily it tends to make me sick. Idk why.

And my Dad has the Pajero Di-D, 2007 model - and my Lancer could thrash it easy as. We rev to 7krpm remember, instead of 4.

Id stick with my current Lancer, thanks heaps!

Try on a hill! RallyPaj on MCA has a 2006 with custom Bilstein shocks and its sets fucking awesome pace! He was catchin up on me when we were negotiating a mountain pass, the extra torque it has for the hills is what does it! with his shocks he is also holding awesome speed for a pajero through the twisties!!

Dont forget the 09 Di-D has heaps more torque now than the older ones!

The 2.0L diesel in the Lancers is actually a VW motor. It's their acclaimed 2.0TDI that is in the Golf/Jetta/Eos etc.

My parent's have it in their VW Jetta and the Jetta is about the same size/weight as the Lancer and It is as fast as my Lancer, possibly faster in some situations due to the sheer torque (320nM)

BUT in some secret news, the Outlander is possibly getting the 2.2 diesel that is in the Peugeots later this year. (The Outlander is badge-engineered as a Peugeot 4007 and a Citroen C-Crosser overseas)

There is a diesel Lancer and Outlander in Australia undergoing ADR compliancing and suitability tests at the moment. I know that the Outlander has the 2.2 Peugeot motor in it, but I can't confirm which motor the Lancer is running. But it could be either as they both fit in basically.

Personally, I hope it's the VW motor, as I have found it is more refined than the Peugeot one.

Only time will tell.
