Interior Neon/LED kinda done =]

Postby Alex.K » Tue Apr 13, 2010 1:10 am

I don't really want to go too ricey.

I have an ES. No MAP READING LIGHTS = FAIL

so I'm going to put some neons in the footwell if possible back seat as well

I want them to only come on when the doors open and maybe sometimes for the show.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LEDGLOW-4PC-7-CO ... 19bacc33f1

I know this is pretty expensive for neon (it's LED but anyway)

It has a control unit and can be activated by sound if I choose to

What do you guys think?

I think it's perfect for both everyday use & the show ;)

LED's are quite bright...One of the main reasons why i didnt get them for my interior neons. I just got those regular CFC (???) tube neons from autobarn. Picked up a double pack for like $15.

The tube neons light up a significant amount of my footwell, esp at night. Mine run all the time aswell...

Hey tadz

yeah neons will be good/bright enough
but as I said mine will only be on for the doors + the show

I won't have them on while driving ;)

I have 2x 12cm strips of red LEDs and they are perfectly fine... I suppose 24 = 2x brightness?

I just bought strips off ebay for like $5 each. Wiring and all other nonsense from DSE.

Total cost was probably about $30... only because I didn't have most of the tools. So that $54.99 pricetag is quite expensive!

It is pretty expensive.
The controller and things it seems like it's worth it
since i only need to plug it into the fuse panel

I don't know.

Just the neons will be like 10 bux but this has a proper controller?

Just don't put too many in because too bright will give you headaches.

I need help =(

Thank SIR-VRX for PM'ing me a HOW TO

it is good enough for me to understand but a couple of problems...

1. According to the image it looks like this

Image

Image
This is my product

It has LED-Control Box with switch-two lines(+)(-)

I've already screwed the ( - ) negative to a metal

The image is showing me that there's door switched ground.
which my LED doesn't...

2. According to the installation guide
http://ledunderbody.com/instructions/ne ... ctions.pdf
Connecting to a Fuse Panel
If you choose to wire the interior kit to an automatically switched ignition source in your vehicle, you must first locate the fuse for such a source. You may need your owner’s manual or the help of a mechanic.
Choose a fused source with at least a 10 amp fuse for the kit; anything less may blow the fuse with the kit installed and running.

Next, run the positive power wire (red) directly to a fuse slot in your vehicle’s fuse panel and insert it on one side of the fuse slot. * Make sure not to bridge the fuse with the wire or it will render the fuse useless in the event of a short circuit in your vehicle. You may also purchase a replacement fuse with accessory wire attached to one side at an automotive parts store.
Finally the ground wire (black) may be connected to any ground source or any bare metal on the vehicle.

Next, run the positive power wire (red) directly to a fuse slot in your vehicle’s fuse panel and insert it on one side of the fuse slot.

This seems like I can just shove in (+) line into a fuse slot and put the fuse back in?

I'm a noob so I am so lost...

Thanks in advance

I contacted the manufacturer
They say I can tie the naked (+) cable around the fuse I want and put it in.
They say it shouldn't have any problem

I asked the safest way to do it and they advised me that the best way would be add-a-circut?

I don't know what it is... I'm googling it now.

There are Japanese brands (Cheap brands also, but haven't had much experience with them) that actually make LED clusters to replace the standard dome lights... Having the LED clusters do help significantly in lighting up the cabin :D

In my Liberty, I was running Liberal ones... Not cheap at all, but they did the job nicely.

With the Neon style foot well lights... I know that are a genuine option for the RA's & EVO's from Mitsubishi (Might be Mitsubishi Japan, not Australia come to think of it)... I'm sure you could wire something up yourself, but if there is a kit specifically for the Lancer, it would make everything so much easier IMHO :D

Got the wiring done and place them in all good positions.

I haven't screwed/taped them in the place yet

because the thing isn't going on when doors are open.

They only work with the switch =(

I connected (+) to interior lamp fuse I tried door locks etc etc

But only with the switch...

I tried what the instruction says turn it off and hold MODE button for 3 sec and turn it back on... but it's not working

i guess i should ask the manufacturer.

*sigh*

If you hooked it up to the fuse, that would be why. The fuse provides ower constantly to the door light circuit.

If you hook it up to the wires in that diagram I PM'd you it would work s you require.
