Hey Stew,

Yep stickers are available but they are reserved for members who take out Premium Membership. There is a link/button towards the top right of the main page with info about Premium Memberships.

G'day ofey ...... I'm also a member of a web-based motorcycle forum/club.

We do similar things to ClubCJ - mods/cruises/tours etc.

We also have a member who makes stickers ........ he provides them free to the club for distribution to members, regardless of membership status.

WTR does have a valid question though. Why should it only be available to premium members? People may not want to be a premium member but still want to show they are part of CCJ other than online only. Brings in some extra business for the site.

Or people may just like stickers

We have to provide some perks to people who pay premium memberships. Can't not give them something for their money...

Competitions, stickers, promptions, stickers, BBQ lunches, ROTM, ROTY etc are some of the benefits of premium/lifetime memberships.

This question can also be asked:

Why would you (or others) not want to become premium members?

I'd like an answer to that if you have one, very interested to know why people don't like the idea pf premium memberships. To help us improve in the future to encourage more premiums. PM me if you don't want to post

G'day Adrian - it appears I've been spoilt by the bike forum I'm a member of. On that forum, web-hosting is paid for by merchandising to the members on a voluntary-buy basis... i.e. T-shirts/caps/beanies/hoodies etc. All members are on an equal footing re: membership. As mentioned before,the member that does our merchandise printing for the club supplies several types of club stickers free to all members to promote the club.

I hope both of you recognise that the converse is also a valid reason -

If you're not part of a club, why would you stick its insignia on your car?
So for e.g.: a Collingwood member's sticker on a car when you don't support the Pies? I'm part of an online AFL community and we were discussing why some people who didn't sign up as a member of the club want to buy the 2010 Membership car sticker for their cars? They have access to other stickers and plates but they were determined to get membership stickers for their cars and pay silly money to members who don't have a car for the sticker.

We made a decision that only premium members should carry the club's logo. We were also very concerned of the behaviour of drivers carrying the club's insignia. That doesn't mean premium members dont' hoon. Some have been caught but it's a hope that those who carry the sticker know what they're representing.

Now also imagine as a member you pass by another CJ on the road carrying the CCJ sticker but not knowing who the person is in that car. Not quite a community/club/online family is it but just another sign which means little more than a sticker. This way, we can actually use the sticker as an identifier of a fellow family member.

Financially, we may lose out a few coins here and there and also on publicity on people who want to carry the logo but we feel the badge should be worn by those who contribute to the growth of this club and are a real part of the community. Not just those who passes by, says hi and seems to be part of something they're not quite ... .

Just a difference of view I guess... .

Now that would be playing with definitions and that gets dangerous.

I know a couple of people here in Melbourne who are NOT premium but they turn up to most meets. They're students and budget conscious and I can see where they stand. Every dollar counts and that was one of the reasons why I advocated bringing the membership price back down from the ridiculous levels it was at a couple of months ago.

I'm not trying to say people who don't pay are not valued members. You still get a membership number so you are indeed a member. Premium is just a different level of membership.

The converse question then should be asked. So if I just log on register an account, hardly post, tap free knowledge, should I be entitled to carry a sticker which says I'm part of a community which I'm really not?

Some point of differentiation should be considered and in our case, we've chosen the club's insignia on the sticker to show this.

I can see there's no shaking you from your belief that anyone should be able to carry the club's sticker on their car. There's quite a number of ways for you to achieve this. The art work is in the top right corner banner. You could copy it, go to a sign writer and ask them to print out a sticker for yourself. We can't stop you from doing that.

And of course, those of us who are non-premium members do "contribute to the growth of this club and are a real part of the community" by participating in group-buys i.e. we pay an additional $10 per item.

The additional fee for group buys is to encourage becoming premium...

If you have participated in 4 group buys in your stay at ClubCJ it would be equivalent to premium membership fee, yet you would have missed out on so many other benefits in the meantime.
