Adrian,

When i rang up prior to the service the lady on the phone checked in their system for a 45000km service it should have a brake bluid flush and engine coolant flush as per the logbook.  I think ultratune must have overlooked the logbook during the actual service.  As I left I was quite sceptical because everything was done except for the brake fluid and coolant flush plus replacement.  i think i'd seriously think twice about taking it to ultratune next time.
If you see a blue lancer in Melbourne and it looks like a VRX, that'll be me!

they are soooooo dodgey

i once had a vehicle come in with a severe noise coming from under the vehicle when driven, it had a note.....Ultra Tune had been playing with the Transmission recently

the K-Frame had 4 bolts holding it in.....one was loose another was in the hole by about 3 threads....i do not wish to speculate what would happen if the K-Frame warped or worse dropped but wohuld have cost alot of money and possible killed someone

another time a very dear friend of mine took her car to Ultra Tune because i was too busy to do it (i told her not to), she had an issue with the Brakes

(keeping in mind this is a rare and expensive car)
they gave her a list of problems (not just the brakes, Engine components etc) and said the parts were no longer available and could not be found
then the Mechanic there offered to buy it off her, she seriously considered it, but luckily she decided to come see me first

i took the Brake Master Cylinder out and had it sleeved $95 later she was good to go there was no other problems and parts are available, they are jsut a bunch of thieves who saw a nce car and and a young girl with no mechanical knowledge

that is jsut 2 out of many ive seen

Throwin my 2 cents into this debate.

How did everyone go with their car serviceing?

In my place of work (Mobile Autocare) I work as a service advisor and get asked a lot of these questions. One thing i have learnt is going to a dealership is a rip charging you 105+GST for labour compared to a business like ours charging $79+. A lot of people go back there for the "Mitsubishi specialist" when in fact when i was an apprentice they chucked a second year on it and told him do this and they charge you $300 for an oil, filter, engine flush (why an engine flush, oil isnt geling and oil galleries wont need clearing) and a scan on the system (if there is no light on the dash why does it need a scan).

In regards to Coolant and Brake Fluid the strict recomendation is 45,000km or 2 years as SIR-VRX said to keep the warranty, in relation to parts it never needs to be genuine it just needs to "meet or exceed OEM specifications" but you probably all knew that.

The only time you will void your warranty is if you sign a extended warranty and it specifys it has to go to a Mitsubishi dealership, if you use Black & Gold parts, dont get it serviced at the correct intervals and if you use other then Genuine coolant i believe (we use only Gen coolants).

I hope there is some info you can take from that which you dont already know.

Cheers Luke, sorry if repeating same crap over again

I'm going to Steve Jarvin's at Burwood to get mine done.

I've changed the oil myself (Shell HX7) and oil filter and I'm gonna swap the air and cabin filters myself. Will let you guys know how I go.

Cool so got my service done, $199 including a loan car (had to run some errands) otherwise it would have been $155

I had the brake and coolant fluids changed the previous year as well so I didn't have to pay extra for that

I was just wondering what was done for $199??? Oil and filter done yourself, Also air filter done yourself and brake and coolant flush done last time?

And how do you rate Steve Jarvin? I use to go to Sutton Prices Hwy but dont rate them. Also think they are rip offs. I would rather get it done at my mates shop but I guess that will reduce resale value as it is not a complete Mitsubishi service history.

I get my car serviced at a Mitsubishi dealer i guess for peace of mind, and i dont have a local mechanic to go to,or trust. For all i know, the dealers could be taking short cuts as well, how do we know there not draining half the amount of oil and topping it up?? We wouldnt know would we?? It will still look clean when you look at the dipstick.
But i will still take it to a Mitsubishi dealer once again for the 'peace of mind'. They couldnt afford there repuatation to be tarnished.

Would it fair to say "if we can afford a $25,000 car,we should be able to afford the servicing costs at a dealer" ??
Because that what some dealers in the past have asked me when i have queried there servicing costs.

To keep your warranty with mitsubishi, you only need to have one service a year with them.

As for taking my ra to any mitsi dealer here on the gold coast. No Way In Hell would i do that. Glen i dont know what service you had with them, but they have lost all of my confidence in them. I take mine to the guys up at springwood.

They seem to be more trustworthy. Otherwise I would suggest to anyone to find a good reliable mechanic, or if you cant find one, then rely on the mitsi shop.

I'm on the fixed price servicing, $195 for the first four services. I can understand your point though. No doubt some mitsu dealers provide better service than other mitsu dealers. Depends who you can trust I guess. I guess convinience also playes a part. If mitsu find a prob it's fixed under warranty. If your local mechanic finds a prob, I'm not sure if he can fix it or you have to re-book with Mitsubishi.

Hey guys, your dealers are not ripping you off, they are trying to protect your investment. as for the mobil man questioning the system scan, what about software upgrades ? the do not bring up a light on the dash, they are detected during a scan. also servicing your self or at an aftermarket provider will void your roadside assist. food for thought ???

Well once again thats why i prefer to go to a dealer, fair enough they do charge a bit more and in some cases a lot more, but at the end of the day they have the proper equipment etc.. and if anything happens to the car as a result or poor workmanship,Mitsu have to cover the cost, wheras if u take it to a non approved repairer, and they failed to service the car properly according to the book, you may find yourself in some trouble with warranty claims.
I would rather pay the extra $$$ and take it to a dealer. :)

got mine done last week although my car has only done 30k it's a 07 model so the 45k service was required.

I brought my own oil and was given an after 12pm discount, overall it set me back $390 + $50 for my oil.

I got it done at Nepean Motosport down at penrith.

I was booked in at 8am, me and a couple of mates hang around for awhile and checked out the evos (drools) and left around 10am and car was still at the same spot.

picked up it up around 12pm.. no complaints BUT, my log book was not stamped.. going back there on saturday to get it done.
