First mods off the rank!!

Postby THE BRONZE » Wed Apr 21, 2010 2:52 pm

Well got the car monday and this weekend think i'll start my first mods

Think the first two easy ones (have read about them) will be the front black out and the chrome surround

Followed by powder coating the rims white and painting the calipers red next week.

Still undecided about the paint protection and tint (winter coming)got quoted $890 at tinta car...
Should i do this? Have heard you need it reapplied every year is this right??
My 89 Pajero is still shinny WHEN cleaned and polished, is new car paint that bad now days??

Great to get some feed back

Cheers in advance
soon to have activ sedan in white

Don't get the paint protection. Claybar, polish and waxing is all that is needed.

I would never have a car without tinted windows now. :)

Good luck with the vinyl and chrome strip!!

I have paint protection and fabric protection and window tinting from mitsu.

Fabric protection is a really good thing (though you could do it nearly as well and much cheaper with some scotchguard or something).

My warranty for paint protection clearly says 'does not cover owner abuse, accidental damage, stone chipping, contact with chemicals, salt brine areas, collision damage and car wash detergent'. So basically it covers.... Well nothing :P If someone keys it it might be covered though, odd. But its not worth it. Can tell you more if you're still interested though
It doesn't STOP scratches or chips though, so its silly. It might help slightly but its too much money.

As for window tinting, I think every car should have it, If you're willing to spend the money. $890 seems heaps so I'm hoping most of that is for the paint protection? Tinting doesn't need inspecting.

Post some car pics up man! :D

Might wait till winter is in full swing for the tint...
Have heard they do mega deals at that time of year....No sun!!

where do i get these claybars from you guys speak of?
And do i just get cans of scotch guard? will it damage the vinyl at all?

Got my quote to powder coate the rims...
$25 each will do this next week then i can paint the calipers at the same time.

Cheers

Umm. We've used scotch guard in most our cars except mine, and on all our furniture, doesn't damage anything (but don't blame me if it does :P).
Really though you should just never let people eat/drink in your car :D Only actually use a fabric protector if there's going to be spills.

And clay bars from any major auto store I believe...? Idk.
