Bad Week... Hail damage + accident..

Postby allophylus » Wed Mar 24, 2010 2:18 pm

Not sure I am super unlucky or what.

Parked my car in front of my workspace wide open Monday, can't do much except for staring at my car hit by the hail storm in the afternoon. It was golfballed.

Called my insurance company this morning, they got me to drive to a nearby repair shop to get a quote and submit an online claim form. Before I even get to get the quote, my car was hit by another car in the traffic to work from the back and bump to the front, essentially sandwiched.

Now I get 2 repair quotes to obtiain and 2 claims to lodge.

D=
Yeah people drive like idiots in/after bad weather.
I nearly T-boned a navara or something when it cut me off on a roundabout yesterday. And they just look at you like 'what's your problem?'

Best of luck with the quotes!

Well, police report submitted, claims lodged, got the car looked by the assessor. Now it is the waiting exercise I guess. I am just glad the car is still driveable.

Thanks for the replies.

Reading the paper today, it was saying that some car insurance compaines where assesing the cars and classifing them as a write off

going to be interesting to see how long it takes the compianes to fix the cars

alot of hail damaged cars are a write off.

Have to fix nearly all panels, sand it/spray it.. then there are smashed windows, damaged/destroyed interiors...screwed up electronics bla bla bla

ill tell you how it works

step 1. Clients process claim

step 2. insurance company receives claim

step 3. places it into the already high stack of claims

step 4. insurer goes to lunch

step 5. comes back to massive pile and goes "ill deal with it tomorrow"

step 6. insurer comes to work next day and repeats steps 3-5

LOL.. I will see how long will it take for them (the insurance company) to call me, giving that they are my dealer choice of company I can always call up my dealer and whinge about it.

Btw, got the quotes from the panel repairer, the hail damage quote is $7k+ including the bonnect and turret replacement.. the front and rear bumper accident is about 4k. I guess it is just not expensive enough to write off the car..

Now .... I wait... hopefully not as Leez said, 2 years...
