Well I just figure you could use a NC relay. Have power drawn from ignition, headlight current to relay circuit so that when headlights are on, relay opens to break DRL circuit. Print out a copy of legislation and keep it in my glovebox in case of unwanted attention.

Because SHOCK HORROR  - I might actually want them to be compliant with DA LAWZ!!

draevon, your wiring idea sounds the best - and would be similar I imagine to Hella's kit.

Haha... lol. yeah came across them when scouting.

Well, I ended up ordering the 10$ cheapy set was looking at on ebay, hopefully should arrive end of next week.

See how they fare, but think will eventually go a proper set & recess them into foggy grills.

Do those cheap bendy LED strips count as DRL's if on the outside of the car?
Would they be illegal?

Dunno if they are illegal, but they aren't DRL as they aren't bright enough.

As long as they are a whiteish light that will not blind other drivers there should be issue of being defected for them.

Ok. I'm thinking cops wouldn't like them as they'd be a distraction and not really serve a purpose.
Still interested though, might pick some up when I come across some.

Edit: And cos they probably wouldn't fit an existing lighting category the cop cant really say 'thats fine' or not.
He could go saying 'Thats illegal because I can see the actual lights' and then I'd get defected for something that costs nothing and doesn't look great. :P

Not bad mate ... probably prefer the fog light setting too. I got my first set but wasn't happy with the quality. Ordered another set and will hopefully have them this week. Still trying to work out locations myself.

that would be cameras white balance.

and inside the bottom grill right at the outside, looks bets. in the fog lights looks odd and, they look odd being really close together.

They look pretty good - not super bright though like true DRLs... I like inside the grille a bit better, although if they were round, I think they would look nice alongside the fog lights.

billyboy - what is the device you are using to test them out - getting the mains down to 12-24V - where did you get that from and what is it called?

Bandit, lol its its just an old PC PSU, that has been modified to supply 12V when I flick the switch. Pretty ghetto, but it works! :P

Yeah, still not decided what spot I like, I've just finished running the wiring harness in & connected a switch that taps power off the ciggy socket.
