What exhaust to have

Postby ianmartin » Sun Mar 14, 2010 7:14 pm

Hi All,

Well here is the question i want answered. Whici exhaust is better for me. :?:

I have been quoted 3500 for a full custom exhaust. My mechanic near shit himself when i told him. Another member told mr about a Canadian site where i could import a systen for about 1500, great saving i agree.

But i am stuck as to which i need. I wont be doing track work on a regular basis, but i do like leaving v8s and subys in a cloud of dust.

So what di i do, do i need one from the dump pipes back...Argggh im confused, HELP... lol

Thanks

Ian :D

The Canadian one would be the Ultimate Racing system. Both guys that put down low 13 second passes at Heathcote the other week were running UR Turbo-Back systems. I think Matt (Ral1rt) found that the high flow cat did little, and Craig (Captain) said the downpipe was a waste of money.

I'm in the same boat as you - deciding on what system to go with. The UR system is loud, so get all their quiet options if you don't like noise. THe HKS system is quiet, but with similar performance.

Then there is CP-e, which you can pick up locally from http://www.mpsgarage.com.au/index.html.

There is also DC Sports: http://www.dcsports.com/singlecanistermitsubishi.html which is also pretty loud, but I've never heard it side-by-side with the UR, so not sure which is louder.

There are also systems by Ralliart themselves and Colt Speed if you have deeper pockets.

Thanks for the replies. They actually answered my main concerns. That was the dump pipe issues, and the noise factor.

my RA is a daily driver so getting a headache from thumping notes isnt high on my list of to do"s lol

HKS would probley be the best one to go with then. The UR can be quiet, but its quite a low tone.

At one of the cruises, i was in the backseat of Matts car and the exhaust was...Cant even explain it lol. Just sooooooooo deep. Just drop punted your stomach every time he put his foot down lol

Hehe yeah, I'm actually having a new muffler installed to quiet her down a bit. With the UR system, Extend the rear tips buy 50mm and half the in car noise disappears.
I dont have the Dump pipe too, only the high flow metal substrate cat back system with resonator.
The dump pipe and Cat might give you 1-2kw ATW but thats all, But your turbo will flow better and not get as hot as there is less resistance.
So get the UR System, Approx $1700 Delivered from Canada, Get the Resonator and Mini Muffler and have the tips extended when you have it fitted. The not this system makes is amazing, but very loud out of the box.

The HKS Approx $1600 for a Cat back system. Brilliant quality, a little quiet for my liking but still a deep solid note. In cabin noise was close to the OEM system.

I've had both on my car and both are good systems, You just have to decide if you want noise or not :-)
Feel free to ask many any more questions about these systems.
Good luck with your choice!

Evo Ecu? No need my friend, In melbs we have had completely stock RA's with only a custom tune, pulling 171KW at all 4"s. With a catback system you should get another 10 or so.
I suggest you find a good tuner, maybe PM SIR-VRX or LETHAL_1 tuning info up there,
So you know too, the RA Stock is between 130 to 140KW @ Wheels stock.

Yeah thanks, ive had my Ra at chiptorque and ive got 170 at the moment. I was hoping to get about another 20 or 30 if possible without outlaying too much.

i understand that we underestimate these RAs as they are so smooth, but i do want a bit more pushing my bum back into the seat hehe
