im guessing you've done your research since you like to keep all your mods legal.. so im guessing this guage pod is legal? not going to have problems with the popo about having something above the dash line or the guages being a distraction to the driver? :)

Actually champ, I have, they are...

No more than the thousands of retards with GPS mounted on their windscreens... this mount does not restrict over the bonnet view of the road from any seated position, in accordance with laws.

Alright if you say so then :) but just letting u know i know few people who've been defected with gauge pods pillars, guages in centre console or on top of the steering wheel and the reason is that they say it's a distraction to the driver.. but hey must be a nsw thing and really depends on the popo..

that would nearly be impossible, because many cars have them homologated... look at all FPV GT etc...

I would say that in the readings I have done, they comply.. but I am not a police officer or a lawyer...

luckily, teamed up with the PLX, it can be dimmed markedly and will not interfere with my nighttime road view..

To be honest, I have read stuff from all of you.. even as far back as early 2009, talking about the ADR covering gauges.. there seems to be some conjecture.

The facts covering GPS are vague at best, mounted anywhere in the middle of the screen seems to be illegal... As read in the ADR21.

Most of that ADR consists of impacting portions of the console/assemblies or additions withing the 'H' zone.

But, from what I can ascertain, connected to the inner skin of the A pillar within a certain distance from the inner skin is acceptable, outside the H zone.

APPENDIX B
1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1.1 Except as provided in clause 1.2, when the area of the instrument panel that is within the ‘Head Impact Area’ is impacted in accordance with clause 1.3 by a 6.8 kg, 165 mm diameter head form at a relative velocity as specified in clause
1.1.1 or clause 1.1.2 below, the deceleration of the head form shall not exceed 80 times the acceleration due to gravity continuously for more than 3 milliseconds.
1.1.1 24.1 km/h for all vehicles other than those specified in clause 1.1.2
1.1.2 19.2 km/h for vehicles which meet the requirements of ADR 69/... for frontal impact using an inflatable supplementary restraint system for the front outboard passenger seating position.
1.2 The requirements of clause 1.1 do not apply to:
1.2.1 Console assemblies;
1.2.2 Areas less than 127 mm inboard from the juncture of the instrument panel attachment to the body side inner structure;

The guage polled pod won't interfear with the airbags. The airbags deploy from the top section of roof lineing and the piller just gets popes out of the way for the air bag to fully deploy. I'm sure adrian will have a pic of it somewhere. There was alot of controversy where the airbags actually deployed from but we found out that it wasn't from the piller
