I dont get how it's even possible to repair something that badly smashed...

Knew a guy who bought an RX-8 that was repaired from write-off... issues issues issues...

They can be repaired if you put enough work in, and are careful how you do it.

You replace the chassis rails etc, but it would not be economical to do so.

I worked as a panelbeater for a while (back in the 90s). The boss there bought a repairable writeoff and got one of the guys to fix it up during any downtime. He ended up giving it to his daughter. Near new car for very cheap. Personally I'd question putting my child in a car repaired from such a damaged state, but the progress of this car from crushed to repaired was incredible.

With enough time an incentive a good panel beater can get most anything back on the road. What happens after that is anyones guess :)

my father was a panelbeater/spraypainter, and he as repaired and sold heaps of write offs like the evo. for about 10grand of panel work/other and 10grand motor you can sell the car as you normally would for a used evo pratically. repairing chassis is possible. and its not less safe, most of the time a repaired chassis is stronger then the original. you could make at least an extra 10grand on what you paid and spent on the car to repair it. if you dont sell it then you have a cheap good running EVO for yourself.

most of my fathers old cars where write offs that he repaird.

With involvement in Rallying, I have seen some pretty wrecked cars repaired... It is just the amount of effort one is prepared to put in :)

Are there any updates on these 2 vehicles?

Did any one go to the auctions?

VRX had a shunt front rear and side. Not worth bidding on. I went and looked on the viewing day.

is it lucky or unlucky that the ferrari has a rear mount engine? cause the passenger probably didnt walk away from that unscathed.... would an engine of made it worse though?

Correction: from the blood splatter it looks like a driver only crash, should of looked closer i suppose....

well it is a ferrari, so hes either old, or a rich snobby bastard so he has no wife or kids and no friends, like all rich snobby pricks. lol

and considering it look like the guy warped it around a poll, going an incredibly fast speed, id say lucky the engine was in the rear, if he is still living.

if the engine was there i reckon the entire cab would be crushed. seeing as the poll already went into the cab (well almost)

From memory that Ferrari had 2 in the car.

It happened in Adelaide a few years ago I believe around Walkerville.

The car had just been purchased and 2 mechanics took it for a joy ride before delivery and ended up hitting a stobbie pole right in the middle of the car.

Many witnesses commented on the ridiculous speed the Ferrari was travelling before the accident.

The mechanics lost their jobs, but were not seriously injured in the crash.
