TopGear Live 2010 Photos

Postby blade888 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 10:29 am

Hey Guys,

Here are some photos of the stuff outside Acer Arena for TopGear Live 2010. The show was good, lots of free stuff, I would encourage those who have tickets to go a couple of hours early as there's lots of things to see/participate-in/buy outside and in the lobby. (i.e. stunt driving, drag racing on a dyno, slot car races etc..etc..)

The show itself was good, a few good things that just leaves you with 'WOW' and pretty funny stuff too, but it was a bit short. An hour and a half.

1. :D
Image

2. F1 Slot car racing track around and through a Ferrari F430
Image

3. A Clarion Mazda RX8 Rep car, this thing was so loud, you could hear it over the V8's revving thier engines 20m away and the Harleys doing thier Drag racing.
Image

Image

4. Touring Car slot car track, the detail on these cars was amazing.
Image

5. Classic Bathurst Winners from 1970's to 1992.
Image
Image

6. At the model shop they had there, I found these Delorian Models from Back to the Future Movies 1,2,3!
Image

7. Dick Johnson's Ford Sierra, I remember watching this thing giving the V8's a run for thier money, and winning, several times, until 1992 where cars like this were no longer allowed to race in Bathurst 1000.
Image

8. Brocky's Mobil 1 Commodore! The noise this made going down the straights is hard to forget.
Image

9. Skaife and Richard's Nissan R31 Skyline. The Controversy this caused is what made Bathurst a V8 only race. This won by such a margin it was deemed in a league of it's own that shouldn't be placed next to V8 muscle touring cars. (Just like how the EvoX's always win the Bathurst 12 hour overall across all classes.) This was the last of the Turbo and/or 4WD entrants and Winners to the Bathurst 1000.
Image

10. Pretty Lambo, but bad iPhone camera :(
Image

11. Very Shiny Audi R8!
Image

12. The new Lotus Evora, I wonder how an EvoX would go against this to be honest.
Image

13. The new Ferrari 612, looks like a hard top version of the California with two more tail lights.
Image
Image

14. Ferrari F430, soft top.

I went to the Friday night show, pity was a washout & couldn't enjoy the display they had outside. :(

Yeah show was awesome, think I enjoyed it better than last years.

I'll hopefully get some of my pics up shortly.

Have a look at this Bill, not sure if this is what was used (they also could have used a paint that reacts to certain light or even a water based spray).

Niiiiice.

I saw that Clarion RX8 at Summernats in the same display area as Clarionhmi's RA. Was several cars and it was indoors so they weren't running any of them at anywhere near full crank though.

Yea the paint used was Themochromatic paint, when heated up it'll change colour. It's used in toys etc as well.

We were near the front and could see the heaters in the little garage thing they parked the cars in to change colours.

Yea the Rexxe's on fire was a really good!!!

I wish I had gone, but it was Top Gear or ACDC. ACDC won, hopefully top gear will be back next year.

Awesome shots man, looks like a good nite. Luv the old HDT VK. Was always a favourite of mine.

Adrian's (Clarion rep) RX8 is not too shabby. Been in this a few times, so loud and clear. The centre speaker in the dash really help to create that surround sound experience. And subs in the doors..... WTF!?

I was running late and it was raining so missed out on the freebies outside. Took a few photos before entering the show but that's it.

Nice range of cars there from exotic euro to the Aussie fast car varient. Top Gear is a great show and I think they will keep bringing it to Australia as a selling point for the magazine and to try jump start interest in the Australian Version of Top Gear. Good luck though, you can't match the UK trio.
You know that you have really got to someone when they invest personal time into tracking you down all over the internet.

You know who you are :)
