[WA] Cruise

Postby Graham » Sun Feb 07, 2010 12:11 pm

Hey fellow active WA members,

We might as well start organising our first CCJ cruise now to find out what day/time would suit everyone.

I'm thinking organising it for mid to late Feb or early March, I'm easy for either weekend so far.

The meetpoint would probably be something fairly central to make it easier for people to get to, any map suggestions let me know and I'll make one closer to the date :)

I was thinking of the Weekend 19-21 Feb or 26-28 Feb.

Post up and we can start to get the ball rolling :D

Code: Select all

Meet Point: Causeway Carpark -31.963946,115.878484

Exit right out of carpark onto Riverside Drive
Turn left onto the Causeway.
Continue along Shepperton Road.
Turn left onto Oats Street.
Turn right into 'Scenic Drive'

Meet Point: Tomato Lake Car Park (-31.97614,115.931229)

Exit right onto Oats Street.
Continue along Gabriel Street.
Turn right onto Abernethy Road.
Turn left onto Leach Highway.
Turn right onto Tonkin Highway.
Turn left onto Roe Highway.
Turn right onto Kalamunda Road.
Turn left onto Gooseberry Hill Road.
Turn left onto Williams Street.
Turn left into Car Park

Meet Point: Zig Zag Scenic Drive (-31.941424,116.047951)

Continue down Zig Zag Scenic Drive.

Above is a map I drafted, you can type in the coordinates in brackets into google maps to show the meetpoints. Any other suggestions or preferences let me know  (refer to below post also)

I would prefer night time, because it's just got a cruising-ness atmosphere. It just doesn't do it during the day for me...

Weekend of 19-21 please! :D Our first CCJ cruise! yeowwwwwwww!! Would be great if we could take some neat photos too? :)

I could try and work in a nice photo spot at night time, my camera hates the dark though :P

Yeah there's lots of twisty roads around the place and roo's are a pain :( I've hit two in my Lancer so I dont hit the hills much anymore lol

I'm bored now, so I might draft up a map

EDIT: Friday being late night in the city it could be a busy carpark, but we'll see :P

Good luck with your cruise.
I found once it was planned there became more interest from members and cj enthusiast to go on it.
After our 2 cruises most could not wait for the next.
I organised small drives with 4 stops. This gave us more time to talk about our cars and to get to know other members.
In total we drove for about 1.5 hours.
The second stop we had dinner and the last spot we stayed and talked for 2-3 hours.
Good luck Graham and W.A. get out and support the club.

Thanks Troy

I've drafted a small map just then which can have more stops added, the Zig Zag part has a really good photo background, the bright city/suburb lights :)

Not sure about Tomato Lake, only been there in the day. I was thinking Tomato Lake or maybe Carousel for the second, as carousel has fast eddies/Mcdonalds/KFC/Hungry Jacks open untill 10pm+

Any other preferences for the map? perhaps add the third stop to somewhere with food

Pfft the only thing good there is the 1c notepads :D

We have MEATBALLS! Glorious meatballs!

Back on topic though, if it's a Friday night, won't there probably be another cruise there since it's so popular? Taking our spots. (Causeway CP)
