Thanks to ABS and Brake Assist, My CJ is in one piece. But my pride is shattered.
The Story....
While entering a small single lane roundabout, I didn't see the ute entering from my right (not sure if the pillar was blocking my view or I'm just getting old).
By the time I saw it, I was a foot or two away from hitting his door. I jammed the foot on the brake and turned the wheel hard left.
My CJ just went to work and responed, turned and stopped.
My wife was in the car and before she could say anything (and after the ^%&$*), I said 'and that's how ABS works...money well spent' but she didn't see the funny side.
But at the end of the day no one was hurt thanks to ABS and Brake Assist.

These things prevent wheel lockup so your tyres won't screech as much as possible. The system allows you to steer while braking and distributes brake force evenly to suit the circumstances.
The best thing against a crash is preventing it in the first place.

Thankfully you're okay and your car is also okay! It'll definately be a good story for you to tell everyone
I've never slammed on the brakes yet so I dont have any experience, although within the first week of my car I did brake very hard to avoid hitting a pram that fell out of a car on a highway.. lucky it was empty!
I've done a few very hard brakes from 100 to test it out and it seems to respond pretty well..

my first experience with the CJ's braking was sliding into a ute and destroying my bonnet and radiator. yer the brakes didn't work. at all.. from at least 10 m brake to the floor at 50 the car went right in to the ute. barely slowed on full braking. even having the ABS going no braking worked like braking is meant to.

Where abouts was the roundabout? I am from Singleton...
I have found the brakes to be pretty good, but I know sometimes ABS doesn't work under a certain speed (not that I've found this out). I was less than impressed with the ASC the other day though, driving on a wet dirt road and tried to test it by driving into the shoulder then swerving back and it took a little bit and some slowing down to get it to go where I was steering

Lancer gooooone
I've generally found ASC to be pretty good, I have never really needed it in an accident-type situation, but I've taken my CJ on dirt tracks up in the hills and ASC flashes on almost every corner yet the car still gets a bit "sideways" and I tried turning it off, I could DEFINATELY feel the difference, I took a regular turn as I normally would at a reasonable speed and it 'slid' a lot more than usual.
If you're in Perth PM me and I can let you know some good dirt roads

Ive taken mine on dirt roads and on bends, as the tail starts to loose traction, ASC kicks in touching the brakes on its own and taking control of the car, I was about to touch the brakes mildly to bring it back, but it beet me to it!!! Love ASC and I always make sure its awake on rainy days going around round abouts.
