Looking at MY15 Lancer XLS got some questions

Postby benwallaby10 » Wed Dec 16, 2015 11:46 am

Hey Guys and Girls,

Im hopefully placing an order for a MY15 XLS Manual this weekend but just ha some questions regarding some mods and if anyone knows if they will void the warranty.

1- I want to put in Hella Horns instead of the stocks ones.
2- Would like to do a full exhaust system
3- Redo the intake
4- New coilovers

Will any of the above void warranty?

Other mods to be done once car arrives which im sure wont void the warranty

- MARS performance Halo driving lights
- MARS performance tail lights
- Underbody neon
- Neon behind grill
- New interior lights
- Potentially put rear and front spoiler/splitters on

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be great as i havent owned a sedan ever.

Cheers
Ben

1. The horn will be fine if its attached to a button. If your going behind the steering wheel it might void your warrenty due to the airbag.
2. All good
3. All good
4. All good

I have the Mars Performance lights they're a good fit if you want photos. I got the extra HID kit too with it if you have any questions.

Underbody neons. Illegal while driving but id just use some LED strips and run them along the bottom of the side skirts and bumper. I have green lights in my grille thats on a switch and can be controlled with the key remote.

As above I've got lifhts behind my grill use LEDs not neons if you want to know how to wire it just ask I've done a lot.

Interior lights. What colour i have some spare LED globes that fit.

- Hard to find quality parts thatll fit nice for those.

any modification will affect warranty especially exhaust and suspension ... but you only live once and warranty over rated anyway they only do the bare minimum go for your life ! :D

all good modifications BTW go the MCA blues for coils best bang for your buck

Exhaust if u doing full exhaust get headers too then see merlin and get a tune

Intake will do nothing as far as KW ... in fact will probably make you slower ...but sound cool and looks the part lol

cheers

Don't put red or blue lights anywhere on your car. I live in the NT where the cops are pretty relaxed and I still got done for having blue interior lights.

Yep just buy a LED roll of eBay make sure it's waterproof though.

Hella Horns should not be an issue, of course if they break they won't be covered by the Mitsy warranty so hold on to the originals.

Here are mine mounted while I was doing some carbon wrapping.

No need to wire in a relay, just make a short wiring loom from the original wires, earth the right wires and you're set. you'll need to DIY a bracket.

They sound much better than the stock ones without being too loud, there is no need to touch anything around the steering wheel.

For more info click here with some details on the install.

FYI you will not have to remove the top grill, only did this for the wrap I put on under the number plate part.

Whats the point of an aftermarket horn? Not being rude just curious. Is it louder or do they play a novelty sound? I barely use my stock horn but when I do I thought it sounded normal.

Louder and look great!

If you want really loud get an air horn system, some rate over 130Db!

I've used mine a few times lately, mainly at the lights when some idiot is too slow off the mark.

Looks great as in you can see them mounted behind the grill? Have you got any photos from the front of the car? Also is it rigged up to your steering wheel or a seperate button.

Basically you just need to replace the horns, will need to extend the wiring and earth it but no changes to the switch so it works as normal. The kit comes with a relay but you don't need to use it.

Looks good behind the grill and the also come in red.
