strange rattle.....

Postby b3n87 » Thu Dec 30, 2010 1:44 pm

hey guys im getting a strange rattle from my exhaust, though its only when ive stopped at a set of lights with my foot on the brake (and after about 10-15mins driving when the engine warms up); had a quick glance over it (checked with ratchet and spanner) and there doesnt seem to be anything loose or rubbing against it.

Does it sound like it under the car or at the back around the muffler?

Have you had a look yourself with the car running then?

I think the heat shield can rattle for some people? If yours is even still there.

Take the greddy off and have a look at it. If it looks ok fit the standard one back and see if it goes away.

The inside of the greddy could be loose. It could be hard to see. I am not sure as I have not looked at a Greddy.

I wouldnt expect it to be the heat shield, cos it would happen on bumps etc too, but its worth a look...

Its not something stupid like your car jack rattling? :P you might have to take it to a shop :(

Rattle or clicking?

The Greddy exhaust is different to the stock one as the heating up and cooling causes a clicking sound to occur when you don't accelerate, particularly when waiting at the lights.
