AUSTRALIA'S consumer watchdog has just announced a recall affecting the owners of more than 48,000 vehicles.

The recall covers the 15-16MY CJ & CF Lancer, 15-15.5MY XB ASX and 14MY & 16-17MY ZJ & ZK Outlander.

In a recall notice published today, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said the issue of concern was that the power relays may generate excessive heat, resulting in relay failure.

"An unexpected loss of engine power may result in an accident"

Oh man this is not good,

Im glad it has been recognised as an issue and recalled

Better that they are making it public.

If you have any questions regarding the recall, you are better off calling your dealer, they will be able to answer any questions you might have.

Wonder what changed between the affected cars and those that came before and after them? Just different batches of the same relays, or different relays used?

Yes I should have added, as always if in doubt call and Mitsubishi dealer, give them you rego and they should be able to check the recall list and see if this or any other recall is outstanding for your CJ/CF or any Mitsubishi.

Yeah isn't likely the affected parts can from the same batch or time frame as if covers several models.

And remember is 100% FREE for them to fix it, all it will cost you is a little time without your car.

On recalls the airbag situation and the government is looking at canceling regos for cars affected so if your car is not fixed you will no longer be allowed to drive it legally on the roads. I know this doesn't affect any Lancer, some CH I think but it does affect around 3 million cars in this country!

My recall letter arrived today. Replacement parts must be available.
