New Cabin Filter Alot Heavier

Just changed the cabin filter and noticed the new one weighs a lot more.

So got out the digital scales and the old Ryco one is just 46g while the new one from Repco is 193g. Heavier paper I guess but not had a chance to test it yet to see if it blocks more air flow than the old one.

Anyone else seen this with different brands?

Ryco one is pollen only. The Repco filter is charcoal, that's your weight difference. The Repco ones are meant to remove fumes as well as catch dust. They flow a little less but provide fresher air, especially if the car in front of you stinks

Thanks, did not know there were different filters.

Went to the shops earlier and it doesn't seem to have been affected the air flow. I have the climate controls set to auto and just adjust the temp to suit, lately I've have it on 20 or less a lot, especially when first getting in the car after being parked in the sun.

Now just need to remind Mitsy not to touch it when I get my service soon.

FYI wrote todays date on the front so I know exactly when it was put in.
