Lugged engine bad

Postby wolfeey152 » Mon Jul 20, 2015 6:00 pm

So my car has just turned over 3000km and today some fool decided it would be great to cut out in front of me. I slammed the brakes on and stopped. And as iwas pulling away I didn't give it near enough acceleration and lugged/laboured the engine I heard a horrible knocking noise from the motor. Id assume this was plain old engine knock. Did I seriously do some harm to the engine? Or should I just not worry and keep driving as normal

Shoudnt have no real damage unless this is your daily driving style.
lugging is where the engine cannot accelerate when you apply full throttle.

if there are no CEL's emitted and no other symptoms during the remainder of your drive then all should be good.

Not to hijack but has anyone here tried setting off on a flat road (or slight down-cline) in say 4th. Just to see if you can go from 0 to what ever in one gear?

That said you can hit 80 in 2nd so 3rd should easily get you to the hwy speed limit.

I've had automatics for daily driving until this point. I'm on my green ps and this is my first daily manual. I'm still learning so ill admit I definitely make mistakes
