Slight CVT Knocking Sound normal ?

Im pretty sure my Outlanders CVT tranny is either same model or one model difference from Lancers.

Just wondering if slight knocking sound in CVT is normal or not at low speeds?

Seems to occur under the following circumstances -

RPM - 1200 to 1800 (more common around 1200)
Speed - 35 to 45k's, goes away after 45k's.
Accelerator - When it does happen, if I back off the accelerator to 10% its more pronounced.

Sounds just like a bad CV joint but its definitely feels like the sound is coming from center line and noise responds more to RPM than speed & when Im driving straight. If I put my foot down then I would be luck to hear/notice it.

Looking at the workshop manual, at low speeds it looks like the transmission doesn't lock until after 1200rpm depending on speed. Was starting to think it's related to torque convertor or some funky gear ratio that tranny went into or engine just labouring giving some funky sounds.

Just wondering if anyone else has a similar experience or if its normal etc ?

how many km's on the vehicle?

Manual says 90,000kms CVT fluid change but mine was getting fairly cooked at 45,000 kms.

Replacing the fluid made a enormous difference.
