Steering Wheel Controls Malfunctioning

Postby Miss Aussie » Sun Mar 23, 2014 9:53 pm

My Evil Car for the past few months has decided to have issues with the steering wheel controls.
I press the volume up button and it goes down.
Down turns it down, but up does too.
Sometimes pressing the volume down button connects to the bluetooth and it's asking me what I want and I can't cancel it.
I have to use the actual head unit to increase the volume and make it stop talking to me.
When I've been trying to call people it can't recognise what name I'm saying (only 3 in my list) and I have to repeat myself multiple times.
If I read a number out, it adds in multiple extra digits to the end.
Redial goes "Calling #301*" or something along those lines when I've called an actual number.

I'm thinking there might be a grounding issue causing this because every time I get out my car, I get a nice electric shock.

A couple of times I've gone to wind my window up or down. It goes all the way down, pops half way up and won't let me move it for a few seconds (great in the rain!)

Has anyone else had any similar problems to this? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Have you checked the clock spring? I have heard of they are faculty it can cause yr steering wheels controls to malfunction.

Take it back to the dealer. Doesn't sound like it is something you could do yourself to fix it.

I have the same issues, they started just over a month ago during some hot weather (parked out in the sun, not sure if coincidence or cause).

It only happens to me at the beginning of a journey (not every journey) and fixes itself after about a minute.

2013 VRX with touchscreen audio, volume knob works fine but steering wheel controls are all messed up (some won't work at all, others wrong function during fault).

Haven't tried the voice recognition during the fault, not sure which button to press...

Definitely take it back to the dealer.
I had this issue with mine about 6 months after buying the car. They said they fixed it and within 1-3 weeks it was screwing up again, so I took it back (for the 3rd time after the initial test) and they replaced the whole part.

Thanks all. :D
I'll be taking it back for sure, just finding time is a pain.
I've got it on my phone as it happened the other day when I was sitting at there so I recorded it lol
As Mitsubishi never seem to be able to find/see anything when I have an issue.
