I use a microfibre mit to wash and chamois to dry the car.

Once the mit gets a little old I purchase a new one. I then use the old one to wash the guard lips, side skirts and wheels.

The mits get washed in the washing machine regularly between car washes too.

I dont recommend rubbing dirt at all as it can scratch the paint. Wash dirt off with water. Hose pressure should be enough if not use a high pressure washer. This is the best way to not scratch the paint.

I just found some swirl marks on the car:(

By the way I'm using Chamois for drying but then it leaves a lot of "residues" or more like web like thingy. Any other stuff for drying?

Using microfiber noodle for wet wash. And the inner side of the windscreen have some oil marking or some sort due to the suction cup from the gps. Borrowed the car to a friend and he just stuck suction thing on without a protector:(

any way to clean that?

Kelvin,

try a bit of metho diluted in a bit of water to get rid of the suction mark then towel it dry, Window cleaner might work too ( dont like window cleaner as it leaves streaks - even after drying with towel)

Thanks Doug

But the down part is I tried to clean it off with a wet cloth and now there's some oil marking around the windscreen :( would the metho still work?

Was it a black or clear suction cup - might be rubber or plastic residue - metho should work ( try undiluted ).

If its an oily residue - try some degreaser on a cloth, then wipe dry and clean glass with metho or window cleaner

The correct method for drying with a chamois is not to wipe or rub but to use like blotting paper to dry off the water, then there is no chance of scratching the finish

Okay so...going to be washing/waxing/polishing the new car for the first time tomorrow... Here's what I used to do for my previous car.. please tell me if was/am doing something wrong.

1. Rinse...with high pressure/jet mode on garden hose
2. Use the car wash liquid with mitt/sponge(not anymore) ..using with two buckets...one with soapy water...and one to wring/remove dirt from mitt I use this http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Turtle-Wax-Car-Wash-1-Litre-With-Wax.aspx?pid=1044#Description to wash my the car
3. water down again with high pressure...to remove soap/car wash liquid
4. dry with chamois
contd...

contd...
5. now this is where its confusing...I use this 'Meguiars Quick Wax' spray after the wash/dry..and buff with a 100% terry towel/buffing cloth
so i understand that my car wash has 'wax' in it..and also the last product is a 'wax' but it also polishes? so am I waxing my car twice...or what?
however..after using the meguiars product..there is a real shine to car..and water beads off quite easily..

thanks in advance :)

PS.. not able to post link to the meguiars product
