Regarding the DIY service of my 2011 Lancer SX
I got a 2nd hand 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer SX with about 120,000 km on the ODO and I was thinking to do the DIY servicing. I got few questions regarding this
1. What do i need to do for this service interval?
2. Is it cheaper to DIY or it's better to just give it to a service station?
3. Will it effect me to sell it in the distant future if the service log book isn't up to date?

My personal preference is, if the service manual isn't up to date with a log book stamped by a company I wont buy the car
I know plenty of others who will also walk away from a sale.in this same instance
Any Mechanic who does the job will charge you labour, that's the killer to the price overall

Hi Mystery guy,
the questions you should really ask is (I know that warranty in your example is not an issue);
-how long do you intend to have the car for?
-will the resale value between having a logbook servicing stamp, and not, differ by much at the time of sale in the future?
If you intend to have the car for a while (5 years or more) it would be worthwhile getting to know your car. Once you get to know it you can add better products than mechanics place in your vehicle as part of their service.
Unfortunately in this great country, the biggest cost is labour. You can spend that money on better filters, oils etc...than the norm.

Lancers have a tendency to depreciate heavily unless its a Ralliart or Evo.
There is an exception to this rule though..... If I had bought a Mitsubishi Ralliart, Evo, or any other carmaker specialised sportscar, I would do logbook servicings seeing that after 10 years, resale value will still be above 20k. But without a logbook.... could hurt your $$$ value.
