4B12 Clutch upgrade options?

Postby Lancer1993 » Fri Jun 28, 2019 7:50 am

Been catching up with the Might Car Mods guys, not watch them in months and just watching the 'EVO' challenge.

My main question is to do with the clutch and diff.

My CJ 4B12 has about 140k on it, clutch never been touched as far as I know and still feels good, but is a little grabby when cold.

I assume there are clutch kit upgrades for the 4B12 but what diff do the CJs have, I know I have traction control but its all electronic isn't it, no mechanical LSD? Is there a LSD upgrade option?

Yes looking at the MCM video I know its a big job way out of my league so what's the likely ball park cost and benefits for a NA Lancer like ours?

On a side note I can't believe they got all most twice the power out of them, 220Kw at the wheels.

Diff upgrade , only once choice worth having
Quaife ATB LSD

Absolutely incredible and oh so worth the price of admission.
Once it's installed , it will really open your eyes at to how bad the open differential was.

If you haven't already had your ECU tune tweaked by Merlin.Tuning@gmail.com then I urge you to have it done , as well as a the 4G69 throttle body conversion as well.
As for clutch / flywheel there is a few different choices to be had.
I prefer to support Australian companies as much as possible and I can certainly vouch for NPC lightened flywheel and heavy duty clutch.

F.you live in South East corner of Qld I can also highly recommend you have a chat to Dan at DanTrans

And get Dan to do the work for you. Been in the game for donkey years and works on everything from street cars to drag cars and everything in between. Most certainly knows his stuff and very competitive prices
