That's certainly good news Darren!

Hope it turns out smooth and the noise won't come back.

Hey guys I finally received the invoice work report from the nth side ralliart dealership explaining the exact problem with the engine rattle.

"Inspected customers concern and found that the noise coming from the engine flywheel hub that drives the input shaft in the tcsst. There is excessive clearance between thhe flywhleel hub and input shaft splines causing backlash in the shft. Removed and replaced tcsst and replaced flywheel adaptor to rectify excessive roll-over noise at idle. Vehicle is outside of 5yr/130k warrantty and not covered by driveline warranty due to not original owner. Bled power steering fluid and centre diff. Replaced fluids. Road tested vehicle and rechecked, all ok. "

holy cow.
Did you give them the go ahead on it considering its outside their warranty? or did they just go ahead and do it cause it is outside warranty without telling you to get your money?

Good to see some good luck come your way mate and Mitsubishi follow through and fix on a well reported and known problem!

I'm still working with them after having my fly wheel hub done as the rattle is gone but clunk came back and slowly getting worse. I took car back and took mechanic for drive, he was going to do a re-teach of sst to adjust backlash but then service mgr went up the road in car with him and re-neg'd advising he doesn't think it's an issue, they have however documented the complaint in case of further problems (to keep me happy no doubt as I'm still not satisfied its normal!)
