Weird Smell After Driving

Postby opa24l » Fri Jan 17, 2014 8:51 pm

Hi All,

Seeing if anyone else has this issue.. Got a VRX MY13 about 6 mths old about 7500kms on the clock. What I have noticed after driving around giving the CVT a bit more than normal u pull up and stop turn off the car and a sort of burning smell from the car resonates like a sort of oil/egg smell. Anyone had that problem? Im thinking its just the cat doing its job.

Cheers
Angelo

Never had any smell from my car. Mines a manual though...

You haven't got a small leak somewhere?

Mine does the exact same thing and mines a 2011 SX Manual. A friend had a 09 RA and his also does the same.

You do get a weird smell sometimes,I think it is more a hot tyre smell.
My wife's VRX get a similar smell also my old Ralliart did the same and my Evo gets it on hot days.I wouldn't worry too much but mention it at your next service and get it checked out to be sure.

check all your fluids just to be sure. fluids can start to cook and deform under intense heat and pressure.

you could also have an exhaust leak. its really hard to say without smelling.

I suppose I should correct myself and say yes, I can get a 'hot' smell after spirited driving, but its never been a bad smell or made me worry about anything. The tyres, the brakes, the engine, they can all smell if you get them past the conditions they're used to.

I literally just drove my Nanna's new car home (shes not the best driver anymore so I drove cos of the traffic etc) and theres the very strong smell of what I assume are the tyres, considering they only have ~40km on them.

Made me think of this thread again :P
