Service Reminder Indicator Function

Postby gazman51 » Tue Apr 05, 2011 11:03 am

G'day
After a service does your Lancer come back with the service indicator kilometers reading

The distance to be travelled until the next service ?

or The kilometers the car will have done in total when next service is due ?

Ours came back with a nonsense reading and I would like to know what is normally the case before taking it back to them tomorrow

They managed to get the 12 months bit correct however

Garry, when the service indicator is tripped after a service it counts down from 12 months and 15000k's. The service intervals are either kms or time. When it counts down to zero for either one, the interval message appears.

But if you don't use up the km's before the time frame, then it adds it on to the next one.

eg. 15000k service gets brought in at 13,500. When it trips, I think it will read 12 months or 16500k's. (will need someone who doesn't drive that much to confirm this as I have always driven more than the k's between service times.

Turbo lancers need to be serviced every 7500k's but the trip metre only does 15000k's/12month time frames.

Had the same on ours last service, they reset it to 12 moths but it was counting down from 30,000 k's. Told them next time it was there and they fixed it to the 15k amount.

Thanks for the replys , the last 2 posts describe what ours read
i.e. 15000 klm / 12 months done with low klm
but indicator read 30000klm minus what odo reading was at service , in other words a lot more than 15000 klm indicated until next service

I run the km's up on my car reasonably quick, almost at 40k in 18 months. Because of this, after the 30k service, it said 15,000km or 22 months lol

The distance and time till next service can be set with the Mitsubishi MUTT scan tool if your driving is not around 15,000 ks in 12 months. You will need to ask to have it correctly set when service is done as its easier to set default next service with the info button.

Does the service indicator trip when it's within 2 months of the next service?

The service reminder went on today, but it's about 10 months since my complimentary 1500 km one. The 12 months should count from that one right?

G'day,
No the one month / 1500 klm is a nothing service , the 12 months timer would be from pre delivery date .

Hi everyone, I just had my first 15k service, on my cars 1st birthday 2.4.12, only thing is I have only travelled just under 7k BUT it’s 12 months or 15k whatever comes first right?
OK the service indicator is still telling me I have 1 month and nearly 8k to go to service. WT?
Question: did the service guy reset the indicator or not?
If he did not how, apart from taking it back which is a waste of a day, do/can I set it to the next service interval?
As I don’t drive much this is going to happen every time I get a service.
Thanks.

Independent mechanics do not carry a MUTT scan tool. No matter what we do, be it using our scan tools to reset the service indicator, or using the info button to reset the service indicator, it will never be able to get the correct service inication - unless the car is serviced right within the 15,000km/12 month interval - no more, no less.

Our proceedure comes from what is told to us via Boyces Auto Manual or Repco Autotech Data Manual.

They turned mine off, as I have only done 10,000Ks in three years
