This is the newer leak. Cleaner look. I prefer this red one. Though I'd be waiting for the Turbo model first... might be another year before that comes out@

Remember people don't buy the car when it first comes out. Hold on until 4 yrs from the release, then you won't be stuck with the "MY12" envy everyone is having now on our forum.

It looks good but for the sake of the car scene, i hope it will be substantially more than the rumoured price range of $30k. If it was, then you can imagine, for the number of VRX's you see on the road, that would be the number of FT 86's and its hype and uniqueness won't last very long.

Haha Gold!
Definately a great looking car, I wonder when we'll see the scooby doo version? Fingers crossed they sell well, then maybe some other manufacturers will get back into sports/performance. Although I read something not long ago that indicated Nissan had no intention at all of reviving an S-chassis type model...

@debonaire:
You do realise I don't mean that literally.
But it's so stupid some of the statements I've read on this forum about MYXX upgrades.
You are never rewarded as an early adopter of any car release.
You will always pay a premium and get fewer features.
However, alot of people have to realise that if you buy towards the end of the life cycle, the new shape is around the corner and you are really buying a dated design.
So should the FT86 come out in MY12, those who are going through the current MY12 CJ Lancer envy should at least wait till MY16 before purchasing the FT86.

Yeah I was laughing with you not at you
I think in general people need to stop thinking so much and buy the best they can when they want it. Theres
always going to be something better and/or cheaper around the corner - luckily with cars its not as bad as TVs, mobile phones and computing: imagine if in 12mths you could buy and Evo XI that does 0-100 in 3sec and costs $30000

There has been a heap of "leaked" info on the FT-86/BRZ this week.
One thing that I'm sure will interest everyone is the engine specs.
Key figures (
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2096):
Power = 147kw @ 7000rpm
Torque = 205nm @ 6600rpm
Weight = 1210kg (base model)
So basically with peak power at 7000rpm and, more importantly, a barely-ES-beating torque figure of 205nm at a ridiculous 6600rpm! this thing is going to need to be revved like crazy to get it moving which as always means it will be a very thirsty beast.
At least that's what my extremely limited knowledge of cars would indicate, please correct me if I'm wrong
EDIT: It appears I was wrong. I did some reading and the whole torque and power thing is a bit more complicated than I thought
It appears that the existence of gears means those raw figures don't tell us too much? I should have done enigneering instead of accounting, much more interesting!
I still love this car more with every leak, check out the TRD version
(it better come with a bloody turbo though...
