Hi guys, I just bought couple of stuffs from ASS which comes to the total of 780A$ + 380A$ shipping (via UPS).
Just wondering if I would get tax? I know if it was ship by USPS then I wouldn't get tax since the value of the goods is less than 1000A$ but does it applies to courier company(UPS) as well?

No. ASS should only write the $USD value of the GOODS on the declaration form on the front - the shipping cost is not a "good"... so you should be fine.

AS per VRX_Pete - Customs only consider the cost/value of the goods for their calculations.
If ASS ( LOL ) write the Invoice total including the freight and attach this to the outside of the carton, then it may get pulled up by Customs and they will want you to do what is called an SAC ( Self Assessed Clearance ) - they will send you a Parcel Notice and a shitload of forms to fill in - for those not in the industry, it can take more than a day to try and clear the goods yourself ( you have to classify the goods as per Customs tariff, know Quarantine requirements etc... ) or you can get a Customs Broker ( like me ) to clear for a small fee within an hour or 2.
UPS Australia also have their own brokers and a smart one would know to deduct the freight from the cost of the goods when lodging a SAC entry ( again - UPS may charge a small fee for this and get you to pay prior to delivery )
