Mobile Phones

Postby Nick07 » Sun Jun 26, 2011 2:09 pm

Hey guys, I'm looking at some phones for myself and was wondering if anyone has used any of the following phones and has any comments on them?

1) Nokia C3-01
2) Nokia X3-02
3) Samsung Galaxy S

Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.

What are you actually looking for in a phone?

Get the Samsung Galaxy S II, Nokia can't do smart phones.

If you only want the Galaxy S (not II) then I have a spare, brand new, sitting around at home that I'd be happy to sell :)

Well I'm just looking at different options. See my dad needs a new mobile and I was thinking of giving him my Nokia e55 and going on a new plan. My max would be the $29 cap. Or he could buy a outright phone in the 100-200 mark, i.e. those 2 Nokia's. Or the other option was to go on a twin cap with Crazy John's $49.

Seems to be mixed reviews on the Galaxy S.

I know about the S II, but it's too expensive atm.

Fair enough. I've got the Galaxy S atm and I haven't had any issues with it at all. It does everything I need it to do.

See he just wants a basic phone, but the problem is there doesn't seem to be a decent basic phone around. But Dad was interested in the whole touch & button phone. Only problem is that he likes having it in a leather case.....

My plan finishes Feb next year so maybe by then the SII will be down within my price range, but the only problem atm is that I keep going over my cap as I only get $150 credit....

Basic phone.. go with either the C3 or the X3
forget the Galaxy.. has more features that you wouldnt really make the most of depending on your internet access on the $29 plan.

X3 would be my pick.. lighter than the C3, more internal memory, lower capacity SD is its only draw back when comparing the two.

Why not go up to a higher plan?

The Galaxy would be for myself and then I would give Dad the e55. He currently has the Nokia 6120c, but it's really starting to play up. I think I would be better waiting till my plan finishes and getting the S II as it will probably end up on the $29 cap around March next year. Only time will tell I guess.

Well I can't go up to a higher plan till this one finishes? I'll just have to watch my spending I guess.

Also the next plan up is $49, too much for me.

Fair enough.

Most providers will let you go up to a higher plan within contract.

As long as you are not spending more than $49 once exceeding your cap you are better off not changing.

Moved from the iPhone 4 to the Samsung Galaxy S II recently. Different experience but good hardware specs and very smooth.
