Told this story before but anyways... Sorry about the length.
I was in my first car, an 01 lancer with full evo 6 body kit (twas epic). I had 2 friends in the car too.
2 lanes each way, I was in the left lane. I was gradually going past a mitsu 380 in the centre lane, as he wasn't doing the speed limit. He indicated to change lanes as I was directly alongside him. I couldn't see any of his indicators so I didn't notice, but he didn't notice my entire car and suddenly changed lanes on top of me.
My car was lowered and had kind-of-low profile tyres and the curb was square, so rather than bounce over the curb onto the footpath (and possibly through a fence), I got squished between his car and the curb (yes, he hit me that hard and reacted that slow that he was squeezing my car between his and the curb).
Damage:
All wheels scratched.
Left front wheel bent inwards (pos camber style) and to the right. This disabled the brakes on the wheel somehow.
Right front wheel's brake rotor and half the calliper exploded down the road.
Front and back bumpers and everything on the right side ruined (mirror, both quarter panels, both doors, side skirt).
Front axle was bent from being squished.
Probably more.
A small detail about that model lancer: The back two wheels only had drum brakes. It took 40-50 metres for me to stop it with my handbrake.
Fun facts:
He only had a chinese drivers licence. Have you tried taking details when the licence is in chinese? I got nothing but a licence plate number and a phone number.
It was his sister's car.
He made no attempt to apologise, and left very soon after because he didn't want to be late for uni (his sister's car had such minor panel damage that it was fully drivable), leaving us sitting on the curb.
The car was written off, I was told it was a minimum of $7k damage just from a first-glance assessment, car was bought for $10k.
Oh and, 1-1.5 years later, coming home on the freeway from a cruise, driving behind Graham as we live near eachother, I saw it again. They fixed my 'write-off' car and sold it to some unknowing girl.
Its still out there somewhere, I hope its history brings nobody to harm...
