Im personally dissapointed when i read the article in Sydney's Daily Telegraph this morning.
I cant understand why the Mazda 3,Toyota Corolla,Holden Cruze and Hyundai I-30 outsold the lancer. Only the Hyundai matches the lancers warranty and i dont think they offer 10 yrs on the drivetrain. And the lancer offers some great accesories as well.

What do you guys think about this??

as for the I-30, its Priced very well for what you get. i personally think the Lancer is over priced for what it is. Not saying that the I-30 is a better car than the Lancer but its worth the money so maybe thats why it outsold the Lancer.

The 2 im suprised at is the Hilus and the Corolla. the rest i would agree with

I owned a corolla, very smooth drive, but not many features compared to lancer. IF you want climate, auto lights and wipers, you had to spend over 30k to get the top of the range corolla which had those features.
Unsure about the other models as to whether they have those features as well :)

A lot of people believe that Toyota's are some of the best made cars and they are offering 2.9% interest on some new cars, which I'm sure would have boosted the Corolla sales up quite a bit. The hilux is still the most popular work horse for people, those things go forever. My dads one has nearly hit the 300k mark and is still going strong.

i would say toyota are one of the best (cheap) made cars around, you still see a crap load of old toyotas still driving around.

For the Hilux not saying it shouldnt be on the list but im just suprised they sold that many compaired to the other models listed.

In ways I'm happy the Lancer is not the top selling car as if it was, there would probably be too many Lancers on the road for my liking. :P

Yeah I see what you mean Ben, my brother in law has one of the new rangers and that is a very comfortable car to drive, more so than the hilux.

Let's just look at those ranked above us:
1. That just says Bogans dominate the Australian landscape.
2. They've always been popular. No surprises. Most migrants from Singapore or Malaysia will opt for this. Heck, my father told me to buy this as my first car.
3. The defacto Tradie vehicle.
4. I can never understand this one. I'm sorry to say mazda build terrible cars.
5. This is a great Korean product. Hyundai have committed to releasing SST cars from 2013. No more Auto/CVT bull.
6. Bogan option 2.
7. Cruze was launched to appeal to the 2nd generation bogan who saw their parents buy Commodores in their younger days.
8. These are the defacto family vehicle. Big BIGGER and it's a Toyota!
9. Fill in whatever you like.
10. The first car for many young aussies. Priced to appeal in this market, though I'd much rather buy a Kia.

NO WAY in hell would i own a Kia, i test drove a brand new kia (had half a K on the clock) the seat was loose and rattled and the steering wheel was off centre.

Just look at how many Excels are still on the road, the Getz is just the new Excel

The only reason I bought my lancer is because I had lots of trouble with my 2003 Kia Rio. The timing belt went at 75,000kms and in effect shot the pistons up and down completely wrecking my engine and therefore resulted in a complete engine rebuild. Glad I've got rid of that.

My parents have a 2005 Cerato and it is a reasonable car, but I really hate the gear shifter, it feels so cheap compared to the lancer.

Maybe I've just had bad luck with them, but I have heard good reviews about the new rio and I do quite like the look of them.

Kia and Hyundai are made in the same factory.

Those excels just keep on going..... and going.... and going......

@ Mizta_B: Mitsu should really give you a prize for being such a faithful customer.

Personally, I cannot see myself ever buying another Mitsu (maybe for my son/daughter in the future) but life's too short, the next car should be a different brand to get a new experience... .

Unless I strike the lotto then I might fulfill my lust for an Evo.
