Anyone used the Lancer Shop recently
http://www.lancershop.com/customer/home.php
Just a question as to why they would require a copy of my drivers licence before processing an order?
I made a purchase and paid using PayPal only to be told they will not send the order without a copy of my current drivers licence??
This seems a little starnge to me as they have my money and address already... not sure why they now need my licence?

Its probably a cross reference as security. Just to make sure the person who ordered the goods is paying with their own credit card.

Odd, I've made a couple of orders through Lancershop, always via their chat system, and have never been asked for a copy of my driver's license. Just my c/card details, name and address when making the order. My last order was made back in July though, so maybe their security measures have changed?

Could it be that your credit card or paypal name/details are different to your shipping details or the name you ordered under?
It happens say if you use your parents/friends credit card to process your payment.
Or if you're shipping to a friend's place etc.
Thus, they might see the need to cross reference and verify due to the amount of different names. address in the transaction.
Just a thought.

I am not sure in this instance why your license would be required, i know for many other over seas purchases i have been contacted via phone to confirm my details. However this was not car related

Tell them to process the order to the paypal address or refund your money. You used Paypal so you didn't have to go through bullsh!t checking.

Ditto. I've found them to be a very good business to deal with and it actually really set the standard for me in terms of what I expect from companies abroad who want to sell to Aussies.
That being said my understanding is it's not a large business (not that many staff) so maybe they got stung by a few frauds lately or people claiming to not receive goods which were worth quite a bit and they needed some kind of reference to 'feel a bit better' about it? It doesn't hurt to ask why they need this info.

Just thought I'd mention I was considering going through Lancershop again but now that they require UPS or FedEx for exhausts due to the size, it becomes prohibitively expensive
Thankfully some of the US forums have a lot of vendors who are able to ship straight from Japan!
