So theres the lancer... Theres the outlander, which is like a jacked up lancer, and they STILL managed to find room for another model in between?

Yeah I saw my first ad for it last night. Not a huge fan of pseudo 4wd's, but I think it looks heaps better than the Outlander. I'd drive one for free :)

yeah I am not a fan, especially that duck egg blue. Nah I would still prefer the outlander but a turbo would be nice ;)

I really like this design.
Pity the petrol model is using a 2.0L 4B11. Imagine that we're already struggling in Lancers with those.

Surely they should have put in a 2.4L 4B12?!

One of my close mates did the modeling for it

What promo posing, or did they help in the development of the design?

I am super keen - I reckon they look great (although not a fan of the blue they advertise it in) - I have had a look inside one and plan on taking a diesel for a drive this coming weekend.

The inside is a good mix of Lancer and Outlander. The boot is the same as the Sportback I have now, but a bit higher, which would make it easier to get prams in and out of. Diesel comes in 4WD only (which is the same 4WD system as the Outlander - electrically coupled so is 2WD unless otherwise selected.

Diesel uses 40% less fuel than petrol 4B12 I have now. Diesel is a bit more exxy, but not 40% more and with with rubbish E10 becoming standard in NSW next eyar, it will cause cars to use more fuel and make diesel a much more cost effective alternative to buying 95 or 98 RON all the time.

Yeah Turbo Diesel 6 speed manual ... I'd be all sort of keen. Looks like a lot more torque. I wonder what this things weighs?

4WD diesel is about 1,500kg.

Diesel = way of the future.

The ASX diesel is a tad disappointing though to be honest. In the competition Hyundai ix35, there is a 2.0lt diesel with 390 (yes!) Nm torque.... another 25-odd% extra than the ASX 1.8 lt unit.

Damn

But ix35 only comes in auto, while ASX only comes in manual. 300Nm will still be plenty to get up and boogy with. The Focus diesel I had came with 320Nm and was a rocket ship and weighed in at about 1,400kg. So the ASX won't be as good as that, but still light years ahead of petrol equivalent.

Blows my mind that Mitsubishi have been quoted suggesting that only 10% of ASX sold will be diesel. People must be mad (or can't drive manual) if they buy the petrol ones....

Yeah 50% more torque and 40% better fuel economy seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. I'm pretty sure my next car will be a diesel (if we're still using traditional "fuel" when I come to upgrade :) )
