i thought i`d start a thread listing bad outlets so ppl can steer clear.

my main offender is BOB JANE/TOOMBUL.
i got a puncture near the sidewall of my yokie and steve at bob jane said that he couldnt fix it so i needed a new tyre :( and while i was at it the other front tyre was worn out too.
these tyres had only done 8000k`s at the time so i was understandably upset.
i decided to get a second opinion as it was worth $865.
so i went to bridgestone at zillmere :) total cost of repair- $26.

THANKS BOB JANE/TOOMBUL, NOT! :(

it must be a Bob Jane thing.

DONT go to Bob Jane in Orange. i mought 4 Maxxis tyres for my commodore, and blew 2 inside tyre wall within 4000ks and one other tyre was just about shot. they would not replace the tyres, it was purly a fault in the tyres but they wouldnt do i thing about it.

Not a fan of the company's either, but lets just wait and see how long your patch up lasts. Some try to get money off people and some are more experienced and know what will happen if they just patched it up. The company may have a policy for low profile and side walls. Goodyear does.

I have dealt with BOB JANE in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast quite a bit, and they are pretty honest as to if a tyre needs replacing or if it can be repaired. I also know the owners. They're a pretty good bunch there.

Standard case here.
It's not what you know it's who you know!

Legally they are not allowed to repair a puncture on the sidewall, so if any part of the plug goes onto the sidewall the repairer is not allowed to fix the tyre. You will find alot of places still use the wicks for puncture repair which is now illegal aswell, They should be using a t-Combo which is a rubber bung with a large round flat head ( for the inside of the tyre). So he was well within his legal right to advise a new tyre as the head of the bung would have gone onto the sidewall. Secondly the factory alignment on the ralliart is shocking and I only got 12000kms out of my Yokies, so he probably gave good advice there too about needing to replace them. Some people will just do the job they are asked but then you get some who actually care about their customers and be honest.

speedie, wrong, the puncture was 15mm from the wall and all it took to fix was a t-combo, as u said, bob jane didnt even check the inside of the tyre to see if the wall was damaged.
he simply passed it off, which in turn pissed me off.

also, i am not saying all bob jane are thieves just the toombul one.
and as the title of the thread says "DONT SHOP HERE" :)

That's true Speedie, good info.

However I have had bad experience with BobJane in the past. First time in years.

Bob Jane at Hornsby NSW only had a simple job to do. Rotate Tyres, and Wheel balance.

Yes they rotated the tyres all good, but when I hopped on the freeway on my way up the coast, the car was violently shaking from the wheels being that far out of balance, I couldn't go over 90km/h. Since I was running late and pressed for time I got it re-done at Gosford along the way and all fixed. They said it looks like they got the balance read out and did the total opposite of what the weight positions should have been.

Not sure on these things as sometimes people have bad experience while others have good.

Jax Quickfit in Hoppers Crossing VIC. Pricks. One in particular. Not very helpful or friendly out there. Went there before I got the wheels that I have. Went with my step brother as he too was looking at getting some prices on wheels on his Commodore. Asked about the wheels I was after and he said 'dont make them anymore'. Asked about another set of wheels (the ones I have now) and he said na wouldnt even let me finish. My step brother asked if they had a particular wheel in and again the prick said no rudely and cut him off when he went to ask if they were getting any in.

Went to Tyre Factory near me where I got my car lowered and they were abit surprised at what we said too and the guys there had heard of a rude rep from the Jax Quickfit out at Hoppers Crossing.

Had the same issue with my old ca as you sleeper, was about 15mm from outside wall.

Took it to Jax & Beaurepaires & both didnt want to touch it.

Ended up taking to an independent place & said will give it a shot. Well repair held up ok until I needed to replace all 4 tyres 6+ months later.

It's always best to go for a second opinion if you believe the quote is too high. Some are honest enough to keep your costs low but there are still others who work like a speed camera.

got my rims from jax quickfit maroochydore. when they bolted them on one of the nuts went on crooked. when i tried to undo it the stud snapped straight off the hub. took it back and they fixed it for free. driving it home all of a sudden my wheel locks up and the car comes to a stop in the middle of the road. i get out and check and my BRAKE CALIPER HAD FALLEN OFF AND JAMMED IN THE WHEEL! can you imagine what could have happened if i was on the motorway or something?

i advise anyone here on the coast to stay away from them...

and on another note
