Repairing a keyed car

Don't you just hate it when some a**ehole keys your car?

Well, they did it to mine... And it ain't funny. Stupid uni students. I swear they don't have lives, these people... so it's a nice car, and you can't afford it... do you have to do that to make yourself feel better?!? What does it achieve!?!

Sorry for my rant, I'm really quite peeved....

Anyway, anyone happen to know a way of sealing it up? Before it rusts? It's gone right through the paintwork, and bare metal is showing, and no, buffing hasn't helped. I don't want to use touch up paint, as it'll stick out.

I'll take some photos in the day, as it was night time when I washed the car and noticed it.

*sigh* Sad sad people..... nothing better to do with their sad lives.

Thanks guys.

How soon until you can get it repaired?

My Mirage was keyed back in 2005 and my panel beater said to just polish the car as usual and it won't rust, as long as you keep the polish up to it. But he also said any rust will just be light surface rust and nothing to worry about :)

worst thing to happen - my old ride was keyed from the rear quarter panel all the way to the front fenders in a nice wave design - fuc#ers...

ended up getting it resprayed...

This is after buffing. What's left. I don't have plans to respray, as that'll cost heaps, and I'm just a student, so I guess I'll just have to keep polishing and hope for the best.

Man, that is not cool. 2 panels as welll....OOOOuch... I'm completely paranoid these days for my car - to my disgust, some new frikwit scratch my rear bumper in the last 48hrs... Will be taking photos today since i've washed it to assess the real damage, but GEEBUS... [complete profanities].

Thats a low act! :x Looks like its down to the primer.

Maybe consider parking your car in a place away from loitering students. Like many of you I'm a real stickler where I park my car, even if I have to walk extra few mins to get where I'm going... Yeah lot of ppl think I've got a-d-d. :P

billyboy - I wouldn't call it ADD, but OCD quite certainly LOL

I'm going to have to start doing so as well I think however...

Yeah I am one of those people who park as far away as I can and walk, been good for the panels and my waist. however the car parks you guys have in the city are normally a lot busy then to ones we have here.

Yea.... I guess I should stop parking in the uni car park... pity I have the parking permit paid for the year though :(

@ billyboy:
Yes it looks like it's down to the primer, but certain points you can definitely see in real life that bare metal is showing. It's a pain. :(.

Have you checked with insurance?

Often you only have to pay a small excess and it wont effect your no claim bonus as it is not your fault.

While it is a crash repairs other minor scratches can be fixed at the same time.

Lol oops yeah, right meant OCD (though did display my ADD symptoms when writing that post!) :P

Lot of shenanigans happen in those uni carparks, remember someone here nearly had their wheels nicked.

Pretty sad to think its the students behind it, thought they would be smarter than a 12yo.

Ha, not like it's hard to get it down to the primer with the crap painter on Lancers. Some douche hit my drivers door and took it back to the metal but the nice mechanic @ Bendigo Mits offered to touch it up
