I recall Mythbusters did a good job debunking various elements of that particular conspiracy theory.

I also knew a guy in Tasmania (a ham radio operator) who at the time along with others around the world made receivers and steerable antennas, and received communications from the various Apollo spacecraft enroute to and from the Moon including the Apollo 11 mission, and also picked up signals from some of the scientific gear left there.
