'Balaclava youths' bash teenage boy

Postby tadz0rz » Fri Oct 30, 2009 3:58 pm

Nine News Website wrote:UPDATE 11.33am: NO extra security will be brought in at a northeastern suburbs high school where a student was attacked by a gang of youths.

The 15-year-old boy was allegedly punched to the ground and kicked in a frenzied attack at Macleod College about 1.30pm on Monday.

The gang, believed to be of Somali and Asian descent, allegedly arrived at the school in a van before running through the grounds and setting upon the boy.

Principal Kathie Gardner said the attack was an isolated incident and teachers were now conducting extra patrols outside of class times.

But she said there were no plans to employ extra security at the school.

"It's a very, very serious incident, but it's an isolate incident," she told 3AW.

Ms Gardner said the school did not have a race problem.

"There's no sense of racial tension at the school," she said.

"We are absolutely proud of our multicultural student mix here."

Police are investigating the bashing, which is thought to have been a revenge attack for a water balloon-throwing incident involving the boy and a Somali student at the school last Friday.

The boy's father "Stephen'' told 3AW his son was sitting eating lunch with a friend when he was set upon by the gang.

"He was in a pretty sticky position, he didn't have anywhere to run,'' he said.

"He was punched and kicked to the ground.

"It started off with punching. You can see by the injuries to his face that he's really copped a few good whacks to the face around the eyes and mouth.

"Once they got him on the ground it was kicking.''

Some reports suggest the gang may have been armed with planks of wood or wooden bats.

Stephen said friends who tried to intervene, including a young girl, were also assaulted by the gang.

The gang then fled the school in a Tarago van.

He said his son returned to school yesterday and the gang of youths also returned and was hanging around outside the school.

He said he had met with the principal following the attack and that his son was still shaken by the incident.

Youth worker Les Twentyman said gangs invading schools to continue disputes that happen outside school hours are becoming a major issue.

"Quite often things that happen outside a school can bring about incidents inside a school,'' Mr Twentyman said.

"It's becoming a major problem and teachers are now saying they are refusing to do yard duty because it's an unsafe environment.''

Mr Twentyman said youth workers attached to schools could help to diffuse the problem.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that up to 15 males entered the school during the lunch break and assaulted three boys, two of which had come to the original victim’s defence.

"Police are investigating an affray at the school and whether the parties were known to each other,’’ she said.

Guys

I dont usually do this but this is an issue that is very close to me

This attack was actually at my school and the guy who was bashed was actually a friend of mine

Their calling it a race war or 'racially motivated'. I tend not to agree with this. They are claiming that these people who attacked him were from somalian or asian decent.

Im friends with alot of people in my school and i dont discriminate against any other cultures or religions. The fact that they are calling this a racial war is absolute crap. Alot of the somalian people at my school couldnt really give a damn about this sort of stuff and this fight was instigated over a little playground dispute. Like in any school. I actually witnessed the original dispute last friday. It was over the boy who got bashed, who ill name "Joe" and the boy who was apart of it which called on this attack "Barry".

It was a warm day and people at my school usually cool down by having a water fight, pretty normal in any school, even though its against the rules. Anyway, Joe threw a water bomb at Barry and barry couldnt cut it and got in Joes face about it. They had a little tussle, no punches were thrown just pushing and shoving. From how that escalated to 15 youths coming to my school and bashing Joe i dont know...For something as small as getting hit with a water ballon..Just wouldnt be worth it.

I saw Joe the other day and he is pretty beat up. He almost lost the vision in one of his eyes and actually has a bit of memory loss over the attack. If it wasnt for the girl who tried to interveen, he would of lost all the sight in that eye.

These attacks are sick, and to be honest, in my school the punishments are absolute bullshit. 1-3 day suspension. Thats it.

I want to know your guys oppinions on this issue....

That sucks Tadz.

I’m not racist but in my home town we have a lot of aboriginals. And the few “TRUE” aboriginals that I know are REALLY nice people it’s the half casts that give them a bad name. People really need to learn that we are a Multi-cultural country. And if it wasn’t for all the other countries we wouldn’t be where we are. Its really hard to comment and tell your true feelings because it will always upset someone. But I don’t get if we pick on someone from another country its discrimination against us but if they do it, its ok.

A friend of mine got fired from her job for being racist because they were speaking in their language, and pointing at her and laughing, (she is a bigish girl). She turned and said “you live in Australia so speak our language. And SHE got fired on the spot.

That happens in my school

When the classes join occasionally, some of the teachers actually tell the somalian kids off for speaking in their language. I mean, i dont know what thie talking about, nor could i give a crap, but its their language and their religion so who are they to tell them anything different

it is yes, but they have to respect our beliefs also. but i think we should try and make an effort for them to feel comfortable in our "world" and i think alot of the problem is the parents, they only know their way, back in their country.

Thats horrible. It seems like Barry is in need of some serious anger counselling :S and they even bashed that girl? Thats just low.

We had this dark skinned guy in my high school, and he was always starting on people and getting into fights even though no one did anything to him. Apparently now hes completely different, all mellow and kind to people after becoming christian.

I hope your friend recovers fully! :( has anyone been charged yet?

That's pretty sad, and even sadder that it has happened to people over less than a water balloon before.
I know a guy that ended up in hospital almost dead after some idiots ran him over to pinch his phone and wallet.

What happened to met me at the ovals after school so I can bash the crap out of you? lol And if it was serious 2 would square off. (which is still stupid)

These kids sound like a bunch of wimps. They think they are gangsters, who are all a bunch of sissy girls anyway.

A few things happened at my school and the media blew them way out of proportion as well.

How can they not know who did it yet?

Out of the 15 I’m sure one of them will open their mouth sooner or later.

School punishments are crap, IMO they should send kids with anger issues to a boxing or karate gym to sort them out.

Look, what can we do? Corporal punishment was ruled out years ago, but still used widely in Asia. School punishment has become a whimpy rubbish system that doesn't work. Even I got away with many things that I'm not proud of in retrospect.

I really feel for you Tadz, I really do, I hope you keep well and your friend makes a full recovery quickly. I look at all the violence over small little insignificant matters, and wonder what this generation is bringing up. What has happened to morals and ethics? What has happened to multiculturalism? What has happened to giving everyone a fair go (The Aussie spirit and way)?

I know you aren't one of those little buggers Tadz, and I hope you never become one.

Now, as for the media - PLEASE DON'T BELIEVE THAT CRAP THEY CALL "NEWS". It's just what people want to hear, their "facts" don't normally add up, as looking further into any of the news would suggest (I do International Business and have become very familiar with reading into the news and their sources and am absolutely disgusted by the spin they put on it - it's not news, IT"S RUBBISH).

Take another case of T. R. (name shall not be disclosed) and sex charges against him and the school student from my high school when I was there - the media blew that way out of proportion, and they even went on rumours that weren't even true or relevant! It seriously affected the school's morale and affected the enrolments for years (it has never recovered since then). The effect was so bad, that many GOOD teachers left and also were fired. I still think it's partially the media's fault for all those results.

Make your own decision about what you hear, that's all I can say. Seriously, makes me wonder of the things that are to come........... :(

Not really sure what to say here (I don't deal well with social stuff and reading about things doesn't always help either).

Best wishes to you and your mate though.

In another 5 to 10 years time Australia will pass legislation stating that anyone over the age of 21 can walk down the street with a concealed fire-arm. (U.S style) Should stop this sort of nonsense.

Very common here. Live a little in Africa and u will learn y. Not being racist or anything, but I hate it. Cant wait to leave this country and continent. Rape, murder, gang attacks. And whats worse a lot of the time its africans that are targeting whites, asians or indians.

I dont think thats the answer. I think the problem lies mainly in democracy in itself. Its a very good system for governance and material gain, but it gives criminals more rights than the average man. The only way to solve this is extremely tough sentences and a police force that doesnt mess about. People are just too soft of these types of things these days.
