Bracing for our Lancers
Hi guys,
Sorry, seems like a noob question but...
What are the different bracings and what are the functions of them? I have no clue... all i know is that they stiffen the car and minimise body roll/understeer (we seem to have alot of that in our stock Lancers)... but i have no clue how they work or which parts etc. they stiffen.
Parts i'm looking at are from the RRM website which I want to get:
- Front strut bar
- Rear upper strut bar
- Lower truss bar
- Lower tie bars
- Rear sway bar
And also out of interest what is a Camber kit?
After all that, is it all easy to install? Thank you all!

Basically, when a car corners or hits inundations in the road, the chassis flexes. The chassis takes impact as well as your shock absorbers. Putting certain bars in reduces this flex and stiffens up the car like Josh says.
Putting front and rear swaybars in (or larger ones if there are existing) will reduce bodyroll and improve turn in, and after you complete strut bars this is the most common upgrade, and probably enough for a street application.
Camber is the on the vertical access and when you look at the front of the car, you will see the wheel / tyre is on an angle. Positive Camber means the bottom of the wheel is closer to the chassis than the top. Negative Camber is when the top is closer to the chassis than the bottom.
The only time you would ever need a camber kit is when you lower the car quite heavily, and you can no longer select a suitable camber adjustment. The issue with camber is that if you choose a very agressive setting, you will end up with uneven tyre wear. It is more for racing etc.

I do believe RRM's bars and struts are overpriced. UltraRacing here in Au as Josh mentioned can give you the same parts much cheaper.

well what would you recommend my first move be in improving my handling? i'm probably looking to only spend 100-200 right now.. i was considering just going for the front upper strut first and see how i go from there, or would you recommend going for a sway bar instead?
to be honest im not 2 sure how it would effect handling in isolation....
thanks
