So I'm all set to do the Defensive Driving Course June 9 just in case anyone else is interest in doing it the same day.

Here is the Facebook page if anyone else wants to sign up, not sure if there are any places left as they are limited.

Its official, got the invoice so I'll be doing this course in just over a week.

Pity it's not free for those over 25.

Given how popular this past has been  I'll update.

Just got back for the course, not bad. Would have been better with more practical but we did learn a lot about some current road rules, very good if you've been driving a while and got you license last century.

On the practical side we did brake tests just to see how good/bed we are at stopping when the ABS kicks in on wet roads and avoiding cones and staying in control, would have loved to try that in my old CC Lancer.

I'll post a video later, didn't take photos apart from this in the car park when I arrived.

Just a couple of the runs.

Basically on the practical we first did full ABS stops at 40-60-80kph, then an obstacle avoidance tests.

The instructor liked how the CJ brakes and handles compared to the other cars, mind you there was a 4x4 and Falcon wagon with the only other car being a B class Merc driven by a P plater and I don't think she was driving fast enough.

On a side topic don't you hate it when the fuel price goes up the morning you plan to go somewhere? Yesterday most places in the Mt Cotton area were around $1 today it was $1.29. Good thing I checked and fueled up at the only place I found at just over $1. Rule to the wise, don't blindly use rewards programs, no point going to Woolies fuel and saving 4c when it's gonna cost 25c more per liter there!

That looks awesome, definitely would have been an informative day! I have noticed that as well, it's as if they know you're coming ;)

At first I was surprised by the 4x4 but I guess it makes sense since most of the time they are on sealed roads and local streets so it's good to know how they handle when you need to avoid something.

Maybe we should arrange a group meeting/course there later in the year, they do other advance driving courses also, some just 4 hours. Would be cool to see just CJs doing something like this.
