Hi,

This is to those who purchased the paint protection when buying the car. Can anyone tell me does the protection only cover fading? Sorry I can't find the piece of paper with the information.

Ie as someone scratched my car and I need to get it touched up or repainted. Now my question is, since I got the paint protection would I need to go through the paint protection company or what?

Does anyone have the number to the paint protection company?

Thanks in advance. =)

Hi mate,

I got paint protection for my lancer, only covers color fade / gloss.

Doesn't cover scratches or rock chips, thats what insurance and 3rd party companies such as thesmartguys.com.au are for.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Do you happen to have a contact number for them?

Don't particulary want to claim through insurance as its only a minor deep scratch and some minor small scratches.

Thanks again :)

These guys are good - I only had to pay $55 for 2 scratch repairs and a rim scratch.

Though that is cause I signed up for membership at my dealer, still shouldn't be too expensive.

You could also just purchase touch up paint from your dealer - approx $13 the last time I checked.

Hey Everyone.

I wasn't sure if i should start a new topic but i thought i'd continue from this topic as its related.

I got a quote to get my car repaired for a deep scratch and minor scuff marks and the rear bumper has kind of been pushed in a bit. the deep scratch is about 3cm in length x 1.5 cm tall.

They advised they will have to remove the rear bumper and respray it but wasn't too sure if they meant respray the whole bumper or if they just spray that one spot. They said it takes a whole day to dry so im assuming its the whole bumper.

Anyway they quote $290. Do you reckon thats reasonable? Thanks for your help in advance.

for a scratch that size $290 does seem a bit steep, but i'm not too familiar with that sort of stuff I'm afraid.

I scratched the side of the rear of my passenger side of the car, I need to grab some touchup paint and hope it isn't too noticable.

Yes that is reasonable. i have had numerious quotes done recently for a rear tail light, replacement rear bar for mine and fitting and painting.

Excluding the parts ($750) the cost of the job is about $300 give or take, at all 3 or 4 panel beaters I got a quote from. So yours is about right.

I would recommend painting the whole bumper especially with the paint the Lancers have... unless you get white you will notice it is a patched paint job not a complete one. and for $300 that is a good price. There would not be much difference between the whole thing getting painted and just the little bit.

You could even save yourself $100 or more by removing the bumper etc yourself, and just take that down.

sorry to go a little bit off-topic here..

If I had the paint protection pack and wanted to paint the car a different colour (blue for example) would the dealer be able to do that and if so do you know what it may cost & would they put the paint protection back on again afterwards?

Graham, it would not be cheap. Don't even bother. Seriously.

For it to be a proper job, including engine bay and door arches erc in a good quality metallic blue you are looking at about $8000 to $1000 depending on various factors and how far you want to go etc.

Cheaper to trade in your car on a blue one
