I know this is off topic but! :P

As some of you may know, My fiancee and I are in a bit of a financial pickle at the moment with my fiancee being made redundant after taking some annual leave! :( Which has put some huge stress on the both of us >_<

Anyway, basically, we have both come to the decision that if he can't find full time employment in the next 2 and a half weeks, We are selling his car, and moving to the mainland :S Because I'm going to be completely honest, Tasmania is not the place to be with jobs at the moment!! We've been applying for everything and anything on seek/ other job sites.

Anyway, the reason for this post, is I'm desperately seeking help from you guys if you know of anyone that's hiring Receptionist/IT guys/Hospitality staff full time/Retail etc <- can't remember what my fiancee has in the certificate department, but I can add that later on! If you guys could please let me know! That would be fantastic!

i know this is gana sound kinda crazy, but when my friends/family are not working they either try working for taxi companies and even temporary security guard jobs.
you can even try get a forklift licence and work do that until u find more suitable work.

As above. ..

Taxi driving, retail (woolies, coles), delivering newspapers, pet minding. Some of these pay very little but at least cover some living expenses.

If worst comes to worst....centrelink?

Being made redundant sucks big time. It would be cool for u to move to the mainland but as others have said moving is expensive.
Here in Adelaide there's not much work going around :( and a lot of it I have found is its not what you know but who you know. however in the next few months we will have some big retail jobs going around, with Aldi and Costco coming to Adelaide.
You could try center link but its the biggest pain in the butt! If your hubby got a redundancy payout they won't give you any money for a few months depending on the payout. I got made redundant last year. Work payed me out for a total of 18 weeks worth of pay. Therefore center link wouldn't even look at me until that 18 weeks were up. And the payments are minimal. Depending on your assets. The max 'dol' payment is $500 a fortnight, and max rent assistance is just under $100 a fortnight.and if you are studying full time they give you even less money, go figure.... Barely enough to live on. Note this is for SA, I'm not sure if interstate centerlinks are different.

Unless you look at the mines and look at moving to country. Although again not what you know but who you know...

Good luck with it all :)

^ Amen!!
I got one 4 yrs ago.
Best A$300 I ever spent.
The amount of sideline work I've done using that has paid for the course several times over!

We have both looked into Centrelink, unfortunately, the amount we will get each fortnight doesn't even begin to cover our rent/loan/living expenses/bills etc, and the Fiancee only got a payout to cover 4 weeks :|

He's currently working at a pizza shop but unfortunately the money is cash in hand, we are seriously struggling :( The main thing we really want to cover each week is the Lancer Repayments & Rent >__< that's $400 a week right there >_<If>_<I>__< I was on Centrelink last year but in the end I gave up with it because the job agency I was with (I swapped a few times in hope of them actually being helpful) with my fiancee's income, I was getting a very generous amount of $10 a fortnight, and yet I was expected to go to job seeker appointments etc... It was ridiculous, $10 a fortnight doesn't even pay for any of my living expenses :S It's ridiculous :(

@Bzeall - Thanks we'll look into it! we're unfortunately up north :( but we may relocate down south if we need to xD

Sorry to hear Tiff. Things are tough everywhere at the moment it won't be limited to Tassie unfortunately!

I have a Recruitment Consultant and HR background I'd be more than happy to look at your resume and give you pointers on how to improve if you think that would help, just PM if your interested.

Otherwise try actually walking into places, drop your resume off in person, it's that first impression that counts and gets you through the hoards that apply for each job.

Hi tiff, contact all your creditors and explain the situation most will give you some breathing space credit card companies usually three months of no payments or interest. Dont leave it till too late when creditors come knocking. Good Luck.

Hey Tiff if you do decide to move to the mainland and are looking at Adelaide i can ask my landlord if they have any properties avaliable. The houses are pretty crappy old and could do with some paint, but its way cheap. My rent is only $220 a week, which is hell cheap here.
Keep us posted with what you decidr to do. No doubt where ever you end up theres bounb to be some ccj peeps around to you out :)

Sucks to hear Tiff :\ everything will work out trust me...

If you were seriously considering moving to Sydney, my mum's looking for a full time receptionist.

Apart from that haven't really got much to suggest.

I don't understand how people can live on the Dole...

That's pretty cheap, We currently pay $200 a week for a 2 bedroom unit, which for where we are is incredibly cheap, :3 But that'd be awesome if you could ask :)
