My CJ just hit 6,000k, i hadn't checked my oil since about 4,000, then i checked it today and it was very dark!
Oil Change is due at 7,500 so i am going to the dealer tomorrow to get it changed and a new filter!

7,500K I was told by the dealer when i got my Lancer that it did not need an oil change until 15,000k? Are you just changing the oil for the sake of it or is that's when it is due??? I might have to go and have a look in the book now, you got me wondering!!!!!

the service intervals are set at 15,000kms. however, in "extreme conditions" etc they do recommend a 7,500km service. this effectively doubles the cost of services over the life of the car though

Would changing your own oil at 7,500km void your warranty?

no it will not. its classed as a sumlementary oil change, inbetween the regular services.
so at 7500 its just oil and filter
15,000 is as per handbook
22,500 is just oil and filter
30,000 is as per handbook
etc etc
there are coupons in the back for supp oil changes.
imo, its pointless unless you drive with a caravan on the back or in extreme conditons like constant dirt roads etc. oh and the race track of course.
i dont think a lancer is an appropriate tow vehicle anyway for most caravans. i know i wouldn't tow more than a small and light trailer in mine.

Thanks for that, I don't want to start towing with my Lancer I am quite happy with its length as it is! lol

Not changed my oil, and approaching my 15k in the next few months....
I thought about it, but decided to just work off the suggested times....
Also read on MCA that it will cost between AUD$190-260 for the same service and best to ring around for a quote....
[For an oil change, filter, some small gasket and the chance for a Mechanic to drive it round the block]

Amsoil is the way to go guys. nothing like it. DO NOT BUY ROYAL PURPLE!!! Amsoil is a FULL synthetic oil. you could go easily over 10k with no oil change. the bottle says a 100k/1yr! lol i do change mine every 10k though.
