Hey everyone I was having a look around the P Plate rules and what it takes to get a exemption for a turbo car and then I was seeing if the Ralliart fit the requirements and from what I can tell it does? does anyone know?

dont think so bud. However, I managed to get away more than a few times when I let my fiancee drove my Ralliart. She is a L plate

Hahaha I thought so, Its just that they said it has to be under 210kW and the ralliart is 177kw, It must be the power to weight ratio then or something else.

JUst from what I heard, turbo isn't allowed for P platers .

yer but you can get a exemption certificate which then allows you to have a turbo,

-If you hold a P1 or P2 licence you may be eligible for a certificate of exemption to enable you to drive a high-powered (performance) vehicle.

Your car just has to meet the certain requirements

Ah I see. You plannign to get one?

haha nah I was just interested in seeing if it was legal, might get one in the future though but I already got my CJ

In NSW, there is no power to weight ratio rule. It is the driver that must meet the requirements.
Prohibited vehicles have:
- eight or more cylinders
- a turbocharged or supercharged engine (diesel exempt)
- engine performance modifications
- certain high performance six cylinder and other vehicles
listed on the Roads and Maritime Services website.

An exemption may be granted to a:
- a person who can demonstrate that an exemption is required for employment purposes
- country driver who requires the use of eight or more cylinder four wheel drive (4WD V vehicles if there is no practical alternatives
- person who can prove they owned the prohibited vehicle prior to 11 July 2005 or before an interstate/overseas licence transfer (attach proof of acquisition). Note, only a provisional who has never held a NSW licence before his/her licence transfer can apply for this exemption person who can demonstrate any other exceptional circumstance.

Wow that is totally different to what I was looking at!

1. Moderately-powered turbocharged or supercharged vehicle

You may apply for a certificate of exemption if the vehicle you wish to drive meets all of the following:
-has a turbocharged or supercharged engine that is not diesel powered
-has a power-to-weight ratio of not more than 125kW/t
-does not have any other features of a high-powered vehicle as outlined above.

And then there is another section "Personal circumstances and severe hardship"

Difference between NSW & QLD is big.

Yeah because NSW people can't drive. haha
