i think if its legal for the australian govt is to allow UNMARKED radar cars on the roads and book drivers UNFAIRLY, mobile speed cameras etc.....Then the entire country should be allowed to have and use radar detectors, why should only WA be allowed to use them legally but not the rest of the country??? I think its becoming a joke, and please dont be a hippacrite saying if you dont speed you wont get booked, EVERY ONE SPEEDS, even if its that 5-10km/h over to overtake a too proud of a driver of their brand new prius sitting in the right lane of the freeway doing 10km/h under the limit...you know you speed dont deny it...

I have heard reports that they put them in wheelie bins and disguise them in SA. They also have radar detector detectors that operate on various bands to catch those with radar detectors.
Where do unmarked police cars and non uniformed officers fit into your argument? they are only adapting to the constant changing environment that is police enforcement.
If you think this sneaky cameras are bad, wait till you see what new technology will filter down to governments in the next 5-10 years.
Once drones are approved for use by the police they will be able to track 100's of vehicles at a time.
The Analytical software is extremely powerful and available for those with deep pockets.
All they will have to do is have license reader cameras at every intersection so it reads the plates as you drive past. they match that time with the sync'd time on the UAV and bam the registered owner of the vehicle receives a fine for speeding some time ago. As the UAV would be able to track and record your speed for any given stretch of road within its range
The other option is to have all new vehicles log speed, GPS position, and accurate time from the ECU which could be subpoenaed before the courts. also introduce a law to prevent tampering of the system.
People need to understand that if they do not speed, the government will stop generating revenue from it, they will deem whatever measures implemented a raging success and after a few months they will move their focus onto other things rather than escalating into forms of guerrilla and electronic warfare.
If the children cannot play nice the parents will take the toys away.

As much as I hate speed cameras, especially concealed ones, legally theres no excuse for speeding and therefore I can't blame the police for using sneaky tactics.
You shouldn't need to speed to overtake someone going under the speed limit on the freeway, that makes no sense

Normally I agree with everything you say Dire
But...
To legally and safely overtake someone on the freeway with a 5km/hr speed differential takes over 2 minutes and more than 4km.

We used to see those speed warning signs and I'd say It's ok, I'm not on speed. I confess, at 1 to 3 am around here, you could drive 300 km without seeing another car, I speed alot

I do not care, every one speeds, Matter of fact each speedo even from brand new out a factory is out of calibration by 5-10% more or less, older cars even worse, i have a 2005 mitsi 380 and when im showing 120 im only doin 107 true speed stock wheels and tyres...my evo shoes 100 but im actually doing 104 true speed stock wheels and tyres..... So if your speedo says you are doing 100km/h on a freeway and you pass one of these sneaky cameras then 2 weeks later you get a fine in the mail saying you where caught doing 110km/h 10km/h over the limit, and at another sneaky camera and another sneaky camerea and then you have got so many fines that your going to loose your licesnce.... that means that you where speeding, am i correct? but in your head you KNOW that you kept it under a 100 the whole time...Would you admit that you where speeding then? Would you eat your pride and joy and ADMIT that YOU where SPEEDING and ADMIT how RECKLESS and DANGEROURS and putting other peoples lives on the road at HIGH RISK and how SELFISH of a drive you are??(thanks to the media's brainwashing about speeding) or would you take it to court and fight for your right because you know that you where UNFAIRLY fined??
go get a gps, phone speedo app thing, and a differnt gps and hop on the freeway and do 100 on your DASH and see how many different readings you get...no one will be the same, I think 25km/h over should be when you can call that speeding and you all know it.....
Im not having a go at any club members just my thoughts about this govt about speed cameras and the whole fact of OMG 5km/h Over the limit increase your risk of dying in a crash by 70%...Load of crap to me....any many other people,

and if they raised the speed limit on freeways there would NOT be so many bloody accidents, they claim that most freeway accidents happen from FATIGUE, im not surprised driving from sydney to melbourne stuck on 110 and a 10hr drive...when really you know you can drive 170-190 SAFELY MOST of the way, im sure that would shave off at least 40% of your driving time and probably use less petrol....Take the autobarn in germany for example
