Im in the market to buy 1 white iPhone 5 64GB for my cousin, then i saw this ad on Gumtree.

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/melton-s ... 1007262271

The price is much cheaper than pre-order on apple store and way way cheaper than ebay.

Is this a scam? i contact the seller she ask me to deposit 50% paypal and pay the rest when pick up at Melton.
She mention paypal can always do a full refund - hm.. too good to be true?

Sounds like a scam to me, if you pay half into paypal the seller will have paypal fees so wouldn't they be better off financially taking full payment when its picked up?
You also have less risk to lose your money that way.

It's true that you can get a refund via paypal but you basically have to open a dispute and I believe there's a time frame that you have to do it within.
My guess is that the reason why it's cheap is because they are doing bulk buys (buy alot get it for cheaper) and it's cheaper than retail because they are making minimal margin (probably 50 bucks per phone sold compared to a retail which makes about 100).

Personally I was never a big fan of gumtree because of past bad experience. I still sell on there just not buy :) Plus there are scammers on Gumtree so be wary.

plus usually to bust those scammers out, ask them if you can hand cash straight up because you don't like using paypal. if they hesitate chances are they are scamming.

she said to paypal first then she will place my order
say if it not a scam - how she can order a lot of iphone in the first place and get 20% discount? inside connection? small business?
